Hi
As a Mac user and prospective TomTom (One, probably) purchaser I'd be interested to hear if anyone has any experience of using TomTom's software - particularly HOME - with OS X.

TT Home works on OSX - but is not fully functional yet.
I have used a Classic Go and a 700 with a Mac over nearly 2 years. No real problems.
When you connect the GO/ONE to the MAc the icon appears on screen as a mounted drive. You can open it and copy all the content files to a backup folder on the desktop. I still do this, it's quicker than using Home.
I install downloaded Points of Interest in the same way.
Only thing I have used Home for is the system upgrade.
If you buy a ONE you will probably need a bigger blank SD card to add things like PoIs and the system 6. Original card is quite full. But the blank card will work with a copy and paste of all the files from the backup.
I'm not sure if the ONE is USB2 compatible. the 700 is but the old Classic is not. To speed up the backup of the Classic, I have a card reader that works with USB 2. Always assuming that your Mac is new enough. My G4 desktop is USB1, but the laptop is fairly new!! _________________ TTGO 700 (dead)

Thanks for the tips - basically as long as I can install occasional software upgrades and the occasional set of POIs, that's all I need.
I've got several large SD cards around so capacity shouldn't be a problem.
BTW are you the sgould from the forums dedicated to a certain Swedish car brand?
Thanks for the info!

hi,
i've had a few crashes with TomTom home and my Intel iMac, TomTom recommended disabling one of the cores and things are better but it still crashes occasionally. i've managed to upgrade, backup and restore to another SD card though it but it sometimes takes a few attempts.
Home works fine on my g4 powerbook though.
for pio files i find it easier just to drag and drop them to the map folder rather than use Home.

Thanks - I'm on a G4 Powerbook so I should be OK. I can't see me using Home very often anyway.
