Recently purchased the streetpilot i3 for £99 from Comet. I'm quite impressed with it for the price.
Unfortunately due to my inqusitive nature I played with it and accidently wiped my maps off 'CITY NAVIGATOR EUROPE NT+ V8' making the damn thing near useless.
I managed to load the METROGUIDE EUROPE V7 maps on to the unit which are basically pants compared to what was on the unit previously.
I don't have the original disk for CN so what is the point in providing me with the 25 digit unlock code for it if I can't re-install it anyway. Seems pointless to me.
I now have a unit that sometimes puts me in the middle of a field or goes in the wrong direction for apparant reason because I'm using Metroguide Europe and doesn't give proper direction at a roundabout.
Anyone got any idea how I can get City navigator back on there without going out and buying the software which actually costs more than the unit itself?
Thanks. |

Should say:
I now have a unit that sometimes puts me in the middle of a field or goes in the wrong direction for no apparant reason because I'm using Metroguide Europe and doesn't give proper direction at a roundabout either.
Why can't posts be edited? Strange forum. |

No, but I'll leave that until I get desperate as I don't want to be on the phone for the rest of my life waiting for someone at Garmin to get off their backside and answer it. |

If you've deleted your v8 maps from the card - then they're gone; ain't a-comin back.
The the only way to fix this is to get on to Garmin. Bite the bullet _________________ Garmin i3 gone (sold on eBay)

Other users have done the same and Garmin re instated the Map Free of Charge. Contact Garmin
Roundabouts are a known limitation of Metroguide as it was designed for PC use only but you can always check the Screen as the Maps are displayed correctly.
Have you loaded metroguide fully so you can address and postcode search? _________________ i3 2.70(went to 2.82,3.0,3.1 but downgraded) with V8 map on microSD card

Yeh I loaded it on so you can address search and autoroute, but as far as I'm aware Metroguide doesn't have postcode search capability.
In the end I took it back to comet and told them my maps had disappeared after an update. After unsuccessfully trying to to make them reappear and unsuccessfully trying to contact Garmin they said I could exchange it. Unfortunately non in stock until the weekend.
Next time I'll back the card up.
I find it a bit hard to believe that there is no prior warning in mapsource to tell you that you are about to wipe your previous maps off. How many times must this have happened? |
