I have to eat my words. I switched off TomTom in the usual way last night after a journey, and when I used it today all the favourites had gone!

I'm not so sure it's confined to the 2210 model. I have the same problem with my RX3715. Sometimes it will do it daily, and sometimes it will go months without losing the settings |

Hi Robin2
Hell, I said early on this topic that I had never lost a favourite but after reading your sad story it appears that there is still time for me to do so.
However in my case it would not be the end of the world because I also save my favourites as a destination in the Itinerary mode. So if I was in the middle of nowhere all my favourite destinations would be safe on my Flash Card. Itineraries are easy to copy to your PC as a backup too. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

To repeat some advice given on this site before , ALWAYS store your favorites as POI's in a category of your own. I don't know why TTN loses these things, but storing them like this saves a lot of heartache! _________________ XDA Orbit (the best so far)

i have a xda 2s running ttn 5.210 and i have the same problem with fav's & home being wiped.
Does anyone know which file contains the favorites as then i can make a backup on the 1Gb memory card i used, and yes i know it abvisable to make a full back up, however i dont take my pc to work and as an HGV driver i live in the truck all week. so it could take up to 5 days to be able to restore the unit. |

i know, search the forums before posting.. 8O ok i learnt that bit now (new on here) wot i've done is ..on the storage card make a folder called backup then gone into Great_Britain_map and copied the file called Great_Britain_map.cfg and pasted it in the folder i made called backup..so next time ttn5 losses the fav's i can copy/paste from my backup folder...must remember to make a new backup everytime a new fav' is entered..therefore to restore fav's should take less than a minute at the side of the road rather than having to wait till the end of the week.
:D i hope this also helps others |

You seem to be under the impression that you need a PC to make a backup of your complete PDA contents. This is not so and you can in fact make a complete executable backup onto one of your storage cards using Sprite Backup. I am regularly away from home for 2 months and have used this method succesfully many times.
Dependant upon the content on your PDA, the backup file will usually be no more than between 8 and 12 mb and a full restore takes no more than a couple of minutes.

Hi Steve999
I also have Sprite Backup Premier and it does as you say, it backs up the entire contents of your PDA. Even after a Hard Reset it will restore all the PDAs programmes and Settings perfectly. One can fiddle about with ones PDA with impunity knowing that all will be well if a ‘cockup’ is made. If a disaster occurs……no problem, Just restore. I couldn’t do without it. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

I`m part of the 'me too' club also, lost favorites, home, and also lost voice warnings for POI`s (Speedcameras), I am running WM2003 with TomTom 5.21 on a Ipaq 3970 with also sometimes it does not see the SD card. |

One more "me too" but for the lost home and favorites category.
I've been running TT5 for more than a year without a problem, this only started happening after I installed the latest Iberia map version. Could the problmes be linked to the new maps?
I'm running WM2003 on a Ipaq hx2410. |

The Sprite backup works ok for the unit but does not back up anything on the sd card and as this is where the favourites are kept i still loose my favourites.so back to the copy n paste idea...only takes a few seconds not too bad |

All the directories are under "Persistant Storage". It is the "Premier Edition" Ver. 3.1.4. _________________ Steve I |
