I am just gobsmacked.
Look on Mapquest to view the very latest NavTeq map for Ireland.
http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?formtype=address&country=IE&addtohistory=&city=
They have done a superb job with tiny townlands all included.
I have scoured the island for obscure turn-offs and isolated laneways and they are all there on the map.
Roll on December when Subaru issue the next DVD for my car. |

Fantastic! At last I'll be able to plot a route home that goes all the way. There is one tiny road missing near my house but its a bit overgrown and the grass brushes the bottom of the car - so cant really complain.
So - when is Garmin due to release this then? Any chance this year? |

Hi
Sorry to dissappoint but garmin wont be releasing V9 this september.Indeed the will not be drawn down on a date at all.My mate rang them and the rep said they are reluctant to commit to dates as in the past these have caused dissappointment. He further added they have no releases available in sept 06.
My guess is last week of Jan 07.There is a new unit in production in taiwan at the moment (660 ) a widescreen nuvi with a FM transmitter built in.will be a problem for Ireland till our dept heads make these things FM transmitters legal over here.so i see delays here with v9.
anyway I got Q2 2006 last friday and its the very latest Navteq with the most up to date maps for Ireland available at this present time.
Very impressive ...if you get a chance to view these maps you will be impressed.
Even Bundoran bypass in Donegal is mapped on it. |

hmmm,
You could be right but...
"My mate rang them..." I believe you.
"My guess is last week Jan '07" Very precise for a guess.
Nuvis, FM transmitters: What have they got to do with new NAVTEQ 100% maps for Ireland being released on all platforms?
"I see delays here with V9" Oh, that's right, Garmin will delay their V9 NAVTEQ release for the whole of the world because of... actually what are you saying? |

Eirlink,
Have you an email from Garmin saying this and what was the rep's name?
Garmin don't release updates for just Ireland but for every region.
If V9 is released in Europe then every country gets it.
That will be Q4 2005 at least.
See RTE report above. |

Could you tell us where to view these Maps for Garmin with the Bundoran bypass on it?
I have both the MetroGuide v8 and CityNavigator v8 and would like to compare the detail. |

Strumble,
Take a look at the MapQuest map link above: this is the latest NavTeq data for Ireland and will the one that Garmin uses. |

Thanks, but I want to see what 'eirlink' has on his Q2!
I thought Q2 was a Garmin, so where is the new mapping software he has on his unit?
I toured Ireland this summer with CityNavigator v8 and was often off the map detail! |

Q2 is short for Quarter 2 2006 is this year's second release of four updates from NavTeq.
Garmin buy their maps from NavTeq so MapQuest above will be the exact same information. |
