Thank you Lutz. All I got from TomTom was it was not their software as it was still in development. I did find it about 94% accurate in Romania, more so in the main cities. Should have been there now, but my girlfriend decided she would come here for a few days instead as we are having a heatwave in England. It will mean cheap ciggies for a few months! _________________ TomTom Go720 v8.320

According to TomTom's support pages, the discounted maps & free upgrade was due to be released early 3rd quater, I would say this should be July. Normally TomTom make announcements on a Friday say if they are on schedule announcement maybe made tomorrow ?

Well since registering over a year ago I think I've only ever received 1 (ONE) monthly newsletter! 8O |

Unless TomTom do some serious development then you won't be using Word or Excel on a TomTom device, I would sit and wait for a while who ever you spoke to might have been having a bad day! - Mike |

Does anyone know for a fact if TT will continue to work products for the PPC platforme? There has been so much speculation on this matter and even information recieved from TT seems to contradict it self. Does anyone have an idea?
Thanks for your help.
PS. How can one not get fed up with TT?! |

This confirms my original predication some months ago, and could explain the delay with the V6 release.
TomTom delay the release as long as possible.... customers get fedup waiting.... and buy a Go unit, thus reducing the PocketPC user based.
I must admit I've got fed and purchased a GO 510, but still waiting for the v6 upgrade. The only reason being is that I hope to get the European maps at a discount price, which I'll use on my 510. |

Yes I appreciate that all the MODS keep saying there will be a V6, unfortunately I have not seen or heard any evidence of the upgrade, have you seen the V6 PocketPC?
As far as I can see, no sign of an upgrade, upgrade due early July we are now in August, and now customers services are saying they are planning to drop the PocketPC platford. I think we will see a V6.
But there's no excuse for this sort of delay, the GO 710 & TMC units are vapour ware, the V6 & map upgrades non existant. Before anyone says they are busy, the TomTom financial statement states that they now employing 600 people worldwide, so what rare they all doing ? |

well i can wait ,i would much prefer a late arrival than like tt5 when the software was early and inferior quality and no where near up to scratch until the patches came out _________________ TomTom 5001 |

I spoke to the support staff at the London Motorshow yesterday. Although he wouldn't be drawn on a release date, only that it was very very soon. |

Or like me, buy Destinator for £75 with full, latest, european maps. If there is any possiblility that TT will drop a PPC version to concentrate on their AIO products then its a risk not worth taking. TT is not a finished, perfect product. |

I went to buy tomtom 910 and its huge compared to my pocket pc, I also demoed this unit and it has no other programs I require. I called again and spoke to another csr and was now informed that TomTom navigator for pocket pc will be released next year in january. I decided to give up on tomtom and move on, what other program is out there that has good maps, good 3d, proper routing, doesnt make me go on roads that don't exist. Most importantly it must work on my hp pocket pc.
thanks |
