|
|
Hi,
I now have a mio c510 and am quite happy with it, i just have a few niggles that i'd like to sort out.
The speed sign thats in the bottom left hand corner of the screen map - can this be turned off? most of the areas i currently drive in the speed signs are showing the wrong speeds (i.e. shows 40 when i'm on a motorway that's a 70mph road) and it's just one of these wee things that draws my eye and bugs me a wee bit.
The other is the view level for when i'm driving along, I've come from using Tomtom on an Ipaq and tomtom generally has the view zoomed in a bit more than the standard driving view on the mio. I know i can hit the + sign and zoom in a wee bit on the screen, but this then moves back out to the standard view - can this be fixed into the zoomed in level at all?
I don't know if this is standard settings or if the unit need to be unlocked and some files hacked/tweaked (alomost like registry settings) to show these items or set these views
Any thoughts?
Cheers in anticipation

With regards to the zoom - i know it's set to actively move in and out depending on your speed - however i would like it to sit a bit further 'in' when touring around cities/towns etc
cheers

Hi jason77.
You can disable the auto zoom function then the zoom level stays where you put it. :D
On the Main menu page Go to 'Settings' (the little hammer & spanner icon at the top right hand side of the screen) then 'Advanced' then 'Smart Zoom settings'. Here you can disable the 'smart zoom'.
As for the speed signs, I have noticed a lot of them are inaccurate but haven't found a way to switch them off in cockpit mode.
Have you considered using Map mode if the speed signs bother you that much. You do lose some useful info that's on the cockpit mode screen though.
I tend to leave it in cockpit mode and just ignore the signs, only for the 'next turn' instruction which is particularly handy at roundabouts.
I think the speed signs are a good idea but needs a lot more work on Mio's part.
I would rather have no data than inaccurate data. :x
Hope this helps.

Hiya,
I'd seen the option about disabling the autozoom - i did like the function of zooming out the faster you go tho, didn't know if there was a was to set the variables.
cheers

Hi Jason77
Don't think there is a way to set the variables without tweaking something we're not supposed to.

Might have the wrong end of the stick but you can adjust the Smart Zoom settings on the 710 by going to Advanced\Smart Zoom and adjusting the distance level for Overview Mode to whatever you want. Is that the one? |
