What operating system are you running. Windows XP has a built-in unzip facility, which should launch when you double-click the zip file.
If you're not using XP you'll need to acquire WinZip or a similar program. WinZip's not free software but you can download a trial version here http://www.winzip.com/downwzeval.htm?wzdm.
A Google search will return several free unzip applications, but as I've only ever used WinZip or XP I can't recommend one.
For instructions on the database download and installation procedure for the i3 follow the second post in this sticky:

Thanks Anita' I seem to have made a complete mess' I am using XP' but don't appear to have Winzip. By accident I opened the zip file with a program called ACDsee' which did nothing' I deleted the file and downloaded again only to find my computer is now automaticly trying to unzip with this program. I have a laptop with XP home edition, but have not managed to locate winzip on that either. |

Hi, If you do a single right click on the file, there SHOULD be an option to unzip with winzip. _________________ Audi A3 Sline sat nav |

jski, XP uses its own application, not WinZip.
Go to Windows Explorer, click on File, click on 'Open With'. It should show a list including ’Compressed (zipped) folders’.
You can click on that to unzip the file, or click on 'Choose Program'. This shows a list of the available applications on your computer, including the one above. Click on that. At the bottom is a tick box ‘Always use the selected program to open this type of file’. If you tick that, any time you double-click on a zip file the XP program will be launched. _________________ Anita

Sorry, that should read:
"Go to Windows Explorer, click on the zip file, click on File, click on 'Open With'. It should show a list including ’Compressed (zipped) folders’." _________________ Anita

Hi Anita, Jski said,
"By accident I opened the zip file with a program called ACDsee' which did nothing' I deleted the file and downloaded again only to find my computer is now automaticly trying to unzip with this program. "
You Said
" or click on 'Choose Program'. This shows a list of the available applications on your computer"
I think, when he tries to open a zip file it tries to open it with "ACDsee", he hasn't got a list of available programs, as he has already opened that box, clicked on ACDsee, and ticked the box. How can he choose another program from the list, (UNSELECT ACDsee)?
If he does the right click, won't there be an unzip option? _________________ Audi A3 Sline sat nav |

Hi tanda,
Yes, it should work this time, but the default will still be ACDsee (I think!)
I was telling him how to change the file association so that, in future, double clicking on any zipped file will automatically launch the XP unzip utility instead of ACDsee (I hope!)
I shall be happy to bow to the superior knowledge of anyone who knows better ![Not Worthy](modules/Forums/images/smiles/11.gif) _________________ Anita

You're welcome, jski.
Glad to hear that (1) didn't work (although maybe you should get an anti-tetanus jab) and that (2) did. ![Laughing](modules/Forums/images/smiles/icon_lol.gif) _________________ Anita
