Is the FIND facility working correctly on the map on the camera submission page? |

No
If I copy and paste the example "51.523, -0.8123" (without the quotes) and click Find, I get an "! Error on page" on the Status Bar. Missing plug-in? _________________ Jock

Thank you, I thought it was just me.
I must contact the 'team'. |

There is something strange here!
I sent a PM to the team and received no reply!
Still the Map on the submission page is not working properly.
Perhaps other members can try to see if they can get a reply |

| Phil, very sorry I should have replied at the time I will mention to the other Mike (who can do something about it I hope), as a moderator I cannot look into why this feature fails to work.
Once again my appologies, it was your post above that reminded me I had a PM on the matter, brain not at 100% this week - Mike |

While I wouldn't be able to offer any advice, I am aware that problems can be caused by your choice of browser or setting applied.
Sometimes, the fact that the information is being provided by another source (in this case a link to Google) rather than the page/site itself, can cause some Anti-Virus/anti-Spyware products to block the data to, and or, from the outside site. |

indeed. Try if Google Local works with the same browser.
The Find feature is also highly dependent on the stability of the Google API. Which is basically non-existant (the stability). I'll have a look at the data they return now. _________________ Lutz

I can confirm that Google Local works whereas the Cameras page doesn't. Let me know if I can give you any other info. _________________ Jock

The Google map in question was working successfully until I went on holiday 3 weeks ago, and now it appears but the 'Find' facility does not work!
'Google Local' works as it should, perfect! |

Basically we are doing geocoding (address to lat/lon) which is not supported by Google Maps API. So we are borrowing from Google Local. Problem is they change their HTML output every five minutes. You don't see that in the frontend, but you would see it through "View Source" I need to find the time to see what they changed this time, and to adjust the code accordingly. _________________ Lutz

PM me if you need any help testing, once you get to that stage. _________________ Jock

For anyone else waiting for this to be fixed, I managed to submit some new cameras using the following method.
1) Find the location on http://www.streetmap.co.uk
2) You can reposition the orange arrow by clicking.
3) Then choose the option "Click here to convert/measure coordinates" at the bottom of the screen. This displays the location in various formats.
4) I chose to check the latitude / longitude in google http://local.google.co.uk/ as you can zoom in much closed
5) Enter the latitude / longitude on the PocketGPS submit page |
