|

Just got a Holux 236 which works fine with TomTom on my ipaq 2210.
When I attempt to use the Holux GPS Viewer I get open failed message on port 8. Attempting to open port directly gives 'can not open com port' msg.
Can anyone please help? |

Hi,
I have done many soft resets and am not connected to any other apps...
I switch ipaq on, turn on BT, run GPS Viewer and scan all ports & no success.
I can pair the device no problem. Also noticed that GPS in Programs\settings is no longer there.... |

to be honest you dont really need gps veiwer installed if your using tomtom unless you want to flick the receiver into sirf mode but then tomtom will not see the receiver _________________ currently using aponia truck navigation on windows phone. Yep I have lived without it on my old GR230 but would still be nice to have it working in case I wanted to use with another app.
Is it correct that I no longer have a GPS program in Programs\Settings?
Thanks again |

Mine doesn't work either...not that it's a big deal, but it did when I first installed it some time back. |

Gps viewer is known to cause issues with tomtom as well I would uninstall it.

I recieved my 236 last night and tried the viewer, all worked fine. The manual states that you should set the port to 38400 bps - Didn't work, set it to 4800 bps and worked a treat.

I've tried all baud rates, spoke with Holux UK who to be honest could not offer much more than to suggest updating TomTom to latest version which I'm reluctant to do given that it all works well. |

Works fine on my hx4700 with Com8/38400.
I think VisualGPSce is better tho. And SiRFTech to change the settings on the 236.
For accuracy though, the new Nemerix chipset pods are better. (i.Trek M5) |
