Driving home from Wales, Nuvi on and working fine, look down at it, blank screen.
Fully charged and also pluged into tfag lighter. Won't switch on, won't reset.
Luckily it's only 2 weeks old tomorrow, so it'll be down Halfords tomorrow night. Pain in the ar*e though, especially as I'd come across a camera that wasn't in the June speed camera release and had recorded it's location! No free subscription for me then. |

Yes thank you. Halfords exhanged it for a new one. Thankfully they swapped the entire contents of the box over whcih meant that I got an SD card which is big enough to put all of France onto it. Garmin have just started sending out the 310D with a SD card - good job really as it is a bit misleading to sell the unit as being a European SatNav system but only if ou spend more money on a SD card.
Annoyingly the SD card just won't accept all the French maps. I've been on the phone to Garmin twice for an hour (half an hour to get through) and haven't managed to load France. I can load one section of France, just not the whole lot. There's enough space on the card, but the transfer process (which takes FOREVER) just fails. Nice man at Garmin is sending out another SD card as this can be the only thing that's wrong with it.
I'll get there in the end. |

Are you using a card reader or the USB on the Nuvi. If you can, you are probably much better off using a USB2 card reader. _________________ Gone fishing! |

It's not actually the transfer of data from computer to card that's taking the time. It the process that MapSource goes through befoe the transfer - some process called "building map index..." which the man at Garmin told me is the PC software compresssing the maps prior to sending them to the Nuvi.
Very annoying. It takes about 15 minutes to do this just for the french maps. Can't imagine how long it takes to do all of Europe! |
