Hi All

After killing my Fortuna Clip-on by dropping it one time too many on the ground I am now in the market for a new Bluetooth receiver.

My currently knowledge of BT receivers is a little rust but from what I read the Holux GPSlim236 Bluetooth GPS Receiver is a decent one.

I will be using it with TT5 on my Ipaq 4150.

This post is to make sure that I have not missed anything that might be an issue with me using it and would appreciate any feedback - postive/negative about this receiver.

thanks in advance.

PS - Is buying this receiver off ebay a good idea as there are a few decent deals around?

Right - I have had a decent browse of the Holux hardware forum & basically it all boils down to buying from a UK dealer.

All issues with people complaining of a slow fix and similar issues are down to a older buggier version of the firmware.

Is this receiver still worth it seeing the potential issues that might crop up? I mean is there any other alternative which is just as good?

Also which is a decent receiver with some sort of logging capability?

have lok the the reveiw articles of some of the bluetooth receivers that are out the though datalogging will put a premium on a receiver

the 236 is good device and yes there are many altenatives outthere i think the main thing for buying a bt receiver is the battery life.

have alook at the global sat 338 or some of the newer bt gps recivers below is a link to some of teh receiver that pocketgpsworld has reveiwed

The Wintec WBT-100 data logger sounds like a decent unit - except I have not been able to find anyone selling it in the UK.

Battery life is not a big deal with me since I will be using the receiver mainly with the car charger and most of my journeys are under 5-6 hours.

I have been reading about the Holux and a little hesitant after reading the posts in the forums. Other than the standard old firmware/no support for non-UK source units.

I am now reading up on the Globalsat 338 in its forums.
