Hi, I have a ttg300 and a 1GB SD card. I will be flying into Malaga and driving onwards to a place called Frigliana in Spain. My question is do I need to get the full spain map or just a local area (and if so whcih local area/s)?. Once I have this when I turn on TTG300 in Spain with spanish map bit does it know where I am?

If you already have a 1GB card then it is better to take the complete map of Spain with you, not just the costa del sol piece.
And yes, after an initial longer search (up to 12 minutes) the TTGO will find its position as quickly as you are used to in the rainy country. _________________ Lutz

Last year we used the GO (Classic) in northern Spain and in March we flew to Murcia and travelled down towards Almeria using a GO700. No problems at all. _________________ TTGO 700 (dead)

The map is the current one (whole of Western Europe) I have that came with my 700 - bought last September. The 700 has a built-in hard disc. I have not downloaded a map yet!!
TomTom is the only place that you can download maps. There are several sources for maps on SD card - try some of the suppliers advertising on this site, or others like Inkino or Expansys. _________________ TTGO 700 (dead)

Took my TTG 700 (june '05 vintage with S/W updates) to Costa del Sol in March '06.
It did take a while to get a fix once we got out of the u/g car park - too long to prevent me taking the wrong direction on the Auto route! So I'd suggest a pull-in somewhere and wait untill the fix if you want to be sure.
As for the maps - the area arond Calla Honda road names are woefully inadequate only 10% listed. I eventually worked out where the hotel was on google maps before leaving and placed a GPS position favourite on the GO before leaving - otherwise no chance!
Bon chance! |
