Hope someone can answer the following questions about the MIO C710.
1. In postcode search can you select house numbers on it.
2. Does TMC work in the UK
3. Can you add external POI's (e.g. Supermarkets from a CSV file)
Also has anybody used one in anger yet. How is it?

Well I have a C710 and the traffic works perfectly well. No subscription required either.

I am looking at purchasing the &10 and have a coupe of quick questions.
Please could someone confirm if the TMC module works in the UK and how good is it?
Also does anyone know of any good reviews to look at? _________________ Please follow me on twitter @mdyson1968 |

Unfortunately there appears to be no full published review, perhaps because Mitac has a lower profile in the than UK than some other brands. I only found the Mio C710 by searching the web after being disappointed with the latest Tomtom and Garmin devices. In my opinion it is very much better than both of those.
The TMC obviously can be no better than the quality of information transmitted. It seems to work, and it is free. It has an internal aerial for the TMC although a wire aerial is supplied. On the dashboard of my Audi it works fine without it.
Yesterday when I was planning a trip to London it showed me that the A23 was blocked all the way from Purley into London, so I used a longer but clearer route and arrived on time. A friend who went in on the A23 was 45 minutes late. Going home, it said the A23 was clear. I went that way and it was (well as clear as the A23 ever is)".

Sal,
Do you have any idea who supplies the TMC data for this model - is it Trafficmaster (RAC) or someone else?

Yes it is Trafficmaster.
from their website: "Trafficmaster works with commercial radio stations, including GCap Media Plc and Chrysalis, to transmit its data via 88 separate radio transmitters across Great Britain."
You can see the names and frequencies of the stations it is receiving in the septup menus. All the stations I have seen so far on mine have been GCap or Chrysalis stations (eg Heart 106.2 in London).

I am really looking forward to seeing your review, any idea when it may be published. If it is going to be with in the next month i will wait until purchasing the unit.
In the meantime does anyone have experience of TMC outside london, and also importing POI's? _________________ Please follow me on twitter @mdyson1968 |
