Seconded as it doesn't work on the Go-910, tried most things and to be honest I have given up for now, something is wrong with the application (or is it that I am running multiple SDK in the menu structure) - Mike |

That thread seems to have been removed now - it seemed like a blatant advert as it was a 1st post by a new subscriber. _________________ Jock

Just to point ot there are two companies (maybe more) offering this type of software although Makayama doesnt yet work on *10 series.
The other company is found here http://www.makayama.com/dvdtotomtom.html |

It seems like it was indeed a problem with TomTom 910. Now this problem is fixed.
Try the new version.
Besides Mobilnova started promotion today.
Limited time offer: 25 EUR instead of 40

Having a special offer and fixing the 910 issue (according to an e-mail they sent me) is one thing, they need a better internet host, the access to their site is down due to bandwidth limit being reached - Mike |

Having tried this software (mobilnova), personally I don't think it's very good at all. Everytime you watch a video it resets your TomTom and you have to wait for it to boot and also at the end of the video it reboots again. Also this means that to listen to mp3's again (910) the tomtom needs to reload them everytime which can take some time. Also each video apears on the menu. I think it would be better to have the video player on the menu and you choose the videos through the video player. Also the on screen playback controls are all messed up. I hope the Makayama media player is better than the mobilnova player. |

I to have tried the mobilenova on my 910 with limited success, as you said the onscreen controls don't appear correctly, I personally can live with the re-boot of the machine to enter playback mode (although it would be better if it didn't do this).
My main gripe is the loss of my custom menu, if you load a custom menu the video files transferred to the device refuse to show up, remove the custom menu file and they are all listed. As I want POICapture top LH of page one I need custom menu.
Will wait and see what the competition has to offer before deciding - Mike |

In order to play video, we have to disable TomTom application. It's just too heavy to coexist with video player. Makayama brutally kills it, leaving all setting unsaved. We reboot the device, then you have better chance to save settings.
Moreover, method with reboot I safe I think, you can not use device for both navigating and playing at the same time, it's dangerous.
As for video controls, any feedback is appreciated. Please let me know what is wrong there according to you.
I'll investigate custom menus issue and hopefully come with update |

Firstly, it takes to take an absolute age for the device to respond and place the controls on the display, when (if) they appear they don't appear to do anything (when in video mode that is), I am only trying to play a demo clip so I hate to think what it would do if presented with a compressed DVD.
The custom menu is something I can work around but it detracts from the overall attraction of the application, it should IMHO use a single icon to trigger and then run stand alone in its own right requiring no re-boot.
I appreciate the legalities of driving watching video - and any one doing this should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law, but the ease of use needs consideration - quick execution to switch to the desired mode, if killing the intended application (TomTom) is required, don't make your application take over the running of the primary function NAVIGATION was what the device was purchased for (no custom menu etc).
Additions to the capability of the device are more than welcome, but need to be integrated in a more user friendly manor.
You asked for feedback and the above are my thoughts on the topic - Mike |

Good feedback, the only thing that I don't understand, is this:
'Firstly, it takes to take an absolute age for the device to respond and place the controls on the display, when (if) they appear they don't appear to do anything (when in video mode that is)'
What does it actually mean ? When in playing movie you touch screen and controls do not appear? It's about 1 second now, quick enough.
Or you press icons and nothing happens? |

Typically it takes over ten seconds before anything appears on the screen in the way of a menu, and this is with a small video file, then the controls do not appear to do anything, this usually results in a reboot with a pin in the reset switch - Mike |
