|
|
I have noticed some errors in the latest Speed Camera Database “(speed zoned *. csv) Version 4.064.
I was travelling from Stafford to Hixon on Thursday 6th July when I passed seven cameras which were not in the data base. The cameras were on the A518 & A51. (Weston on the green to Rugeley)
I have listed the exact location of the cameras at the bottom of this posting; the strange thing is that the cameras were in the previous data-base, The cameras have been removed from the database but not from the road-side.
Hmm, is there a conspiracy theory story here somewhere?
Do I get lifetime membership for spotting the errors?
The Camera numbers & coordinates were taken from the previous database.

Alix,
Given the number of similar reports that we've had this month, is it possible that, as a moderator, you could investigate this removal?
If I understand correctly, cameras should only be removed after several (2 or is it more ?) reports, from independant subscribers, that the cameras have been removed. Is this correct? Has this actually happened in this case? If not, can you find out if this has been caused by the "automatic" procedures now used to maintain the database?
If you look at some of my recent posts, you'll see that I've been telling people that "accidents will happen", etc. but I'm now beginning to wonder what is going on.
If this is not rectified, or at least explained properly by one of the mods, people are going to rapidly loose confidence in the database _________________ Jock

That should, of course, read:

I think I have solved the problem. I was beginning to suspect a conspiracy as most of the removals were sent in by 2 users, but others had provided removal details as well.
It turned out that tthe users were finding the cameras using TomTom and reporting the id as being removed. The ids used were the old style ones ie TEMP:182@40 since the camera ids have been renumbered this of course was reporting the wrong camera.
I hvae re-instated these cameras identified above and will install an old version of the database and review all the other temp removals from the A12. _________________ Mike Barrett |

Mike, does that mean that you have updates the database again since doing that? If so I will re-download. If not would it be worthwhile doing now you have spotted this. _________________ Peter

BFG as moderators we dont have that kind of access to the database, our primerary role is to help oversee the smooth runing of the forums. one the admin team have the access required to invetsigate the problem. As it looks like MIke B has found the problem and it should be sorted fairly quickly. _________________ currently using aponia truck navigation on windows phone. I have updated it in our master database only. There is no newer version available for download yet.
We are also working on a few other issues so we may release an interim database later this week. Releasing a database takes a full day to actually do so we dont want to make too many releases. _________________ Mike Barrett |

I take that by Admin, you mean a member of the PGPS Staff Usergroup i.e. MikeB, Darren or Lutz? Does that apply to both camera and subscription databases? alix776 wrote: | As it looks like MIke B has found the problem and it should be sorted fairly quickly. | I had PMed MikeB, more because I didn't know when you might be about. _________________ Jock
