Hi,

Does anyone know what kind of screwdriver I need to open a tt1? the screws on the back are little hex bolts with a needle in the middle (best I can describe it) they are hidden under the rubber mounts ?

I have a cracked face on mine and someone has offered to dig one out for me. Looks easy to fix, just a straight under screw put new face on and bobs your uncle Laughing

ahhh yes and where do I buy one ?

cheers

They are Torx screws, you can get a set of the smaller sized ones from Maplins something along the lines of THESE - size T06 -
Just a quick word of warning - you are aware of what happens to the waranty when you open up the device? - Mike

If you sent it back it would be a chargeable repair unless it was some malfunction of the mount that resulted in the unit falling Wink , only question i have is that it is not just simply a piece of glass you may be in for a suprise when you get it open ( suggest you open up the donor unit first to see what is involved) why don't you contact TomTom for a repair quote before going any further.

The "needle" is an anti-tamper fitment, which will stop standard torx screwdrivers from being used. You need to buy a "security" torx set, which has a hole in the middle of the driver to fit over the needle. You can buy them from Halfords.

thanks for that tom.

I was wondering what the tamper security thing was all about.

Will look see where I can by just a size 6 torx driver.

Cheers

I use THIS SET as it fits almost anything from laptops, satnavs, GPS units car decks etc - not the cheapest but at least you always have the bit you need (and it does contain the Torx Secure bits) - Mike
