I would suggest when you quote you do it correctly my exact words were
it may be better to sell your I3 in the uk and get a replacement over there check that they are available first the original poster is more than capable of finding out the pro's or con's of buying / selling than i am regarding Australia.
I'm very sorry, Timber. I obviously deleted more than I intended to. I wasn't suggesting you were telling tosborne what to do. I was simply responding to your suggestion that he should find out if the i3 is available in Australia, and was interested to see if it was, and at what price.
I'll try to remember to always quote your posts in full in future, including all formatting - and then get complaints about excessively long posts. Oh well, they do say a woman's place is in the wrong!
Anita !!
What are you doing out of the kitchen ??
Note smilies, so no-one, not even a woman in the wrong could misinterpret the obvious humour :P _________________ Ignorance is no excuse !

I'm glad to say I'm not a modern, sexist woman who takes offence at what is obviously meant as a joke! Mind, I might retaliate, if only I could think of something clever to say. _________________ Anita

Here's a supplier in Oz that sells the Garmin Range. And he has the i3 for $589 Austrian Dollars ($390 USD). He also does the Oz maps. May be of interest to check the site out

My daughter lives in Perth WA and I checked this out. Previous advice here is correct. Satnav's are more expensive than Europe. The i3 wasn't availiable as of May ,although some dealers told me it would be. You can get mapping for your UK i3 but it will be expensive, ( c £200) hence the suggestion to buy a new unit there. The other problem for me was that I only wanted mapping for WA, but that expensive Mapsource CD has the whole of Oz. That's going to be better value if you are going to the East side of the country, but its a lot for the west side, especially when you consider 99% of the land area has no roads to map!
