Hi all
Does anyone know if there is an update for the custom poi warnings for the new firmware 6.12 ?
I've updated my go300 and now the speed camera warning voices of Liz Whittaker no longer work.
anyone any ideas? |

Yes, be patient! :D
6.12 only appeared briefly and then was pulled by TomTom after a day, so presumably it isn't even a stable version.
The Liz voice comes from Ray Flanagan, who does it all for free, including producing definitely the highest quality voices available, (which must have required considerable persuasion to get professional artistes to give their talents for free).
Give the poor man a chance, he might not even have a copy of the new software yet! |

I agree entirely with Andy. I will update my wife's Go700 to V6 (want the multiple phone pairing) but only once I can keep Liz. _________________ Peter

In my opinion Liz seems to have a voice which is so suited to this type of application, and she doesn't grate after a day of driving (which is not the case for many of the voices available elsewhere)
If only she could be persuaded to be the voice for other applications, and possibly record additional phrases for the camera types not currently catered for (unknown/tba and 20mph etc). |

After trying some of the directional voices I find the "Justin Moorhouse" excellent, even better than the pre-installed UK voices.
As for some of the others, well they are OK as a "joke" and thats about it. _________________ (If it ain't broke, I can soon fix it) |

Just goes to show how peoples opinions vary - so far, everyone I have spoken to finds the Justin Moorhouse voice terrible in use, and quickly went back to Liz or Andy. If only Justin had stuck to giving straight directions (for which his voice is superb in a noisy environment) and avoided the 'funny' comments, which after the umpteenth hearing become so tiresome. |

I agree the "funny" remarks get a little tiresome after a while.
But on the same journey his directions were/seemed more explicit than others on some parts of the journey.
Having said that, instructions when approaching roundabouts took a little getting used to (bare left then take the 2/3 .......) we don't normally "bare left" we "go around" at roundabouts, but soon got used to that one.
Still as you say (Just goes to show how peoples opinions vary) _________________ (If it ain't broke, I can soon fix it) |
