|
|
I have a TomTom GO 500 and will shortly be travelling to France, Belgium and Holland.
I am keen to purchase the Maps of Western Europe before I go, and was wondering if anyone had a suggestion as to where I can get this in the UK for the best possible price? I was hoping it may have come down in price by now but from my initial searches it doesn't appear to have!
Thanks,

Thanks, although those prices are not quite what I had in mind - I'd rather buy direct from TomTom for <£83 for the full product!!

The £83 western europe maps from TomTom are not a single map. All you are downloading is the set of seven individual maps. OK if you want the maps of France and Benelux since the full set is not far of the cost of 2 individual maps.
But each of these maps will only have major roads of the rest of Europe beyond the map border. If you want detail all the way you will neeed to switch maps at the frontier.
The 2GB card has all of W Europe in detail on one map. _________________ TTGO 700 (dead)

Oh right, I was unaware of that fact - thanks.
Would the full 2GB product contain the recently-revised map data?

I'm confused.
Does the 1GB card contain everything I need for end-to-end journey planning from UK and Holland?
Can anyone recommend a supplier?
Thanks,

The first seamless map that TomTom produced was on the 700 last year. The 700 has a 2.5GB hard disc in it, not a card. The map took up 1.33 GB of this and left a lot of space. The countries included Western Europe plus Poland and the Czech Republic.
Later TomTom sold a copy of this map on an SD card. It was a special 1.5GB card (not 2GB like we've been saying ). It was sold for £180. This card could be used in any of the GO (or ONE) models that took an SD card.
When the 510/710/910 came out, TomTom upgraded the maps.
The 910 had the countries that were on the 700 plus Hungary and Slovakia. All as one seamless map.
The 710 has a 1 GB SD card with the countries of Western Europe only on it - no Poland or Czech Republic. Still as one seamless map. This is the card that TomTom (and others) now sell at £150 and it is more up to date than the "old" 1.5GB card but has some countries missing. _________________ TTGO 700 (dead)

If you mean you want to travel between England and Holland return, the way round it is to Install the Benelux plus map. When setting off from the UK choose The Benelux map and set your destination. You will be guided over the major roads of europe through the UK, France and Belgium, on arrival in Holland you will have street level. _________________ Formerly known as Lost_Property
