Navman, this is a bloody disgrace. I read, I think, on this forum that demand was not sufficient to warrant investment in OS maps for this part of the world. I dont believe that for a second. Also demand does not solely come from those people resident in Ireland as an area, but the thousands of people from England, Scotland and Wales as well as the rest of the world who visit and wish to use their Navman hardware when visiting on business and for tourism reasons. The first company to realise this will have cornered a very large market.
Also in this day and age, its unforgivable to misname areas, particularly those which most people already know. Ie, Anderstown should be Andersonstown, and Shankhill Road is actually Shankill Road.
This is just sloppy. Get off your backsides and get this sorted out. The UK of GB and N Ireland is a modern sophisticated and heavily populated society. I dont expect to be floating in a green field just two miles from Belfast City centre (a pop of almost 400,000) as indicated by my Navman ICN 520 screen!!! :x |

I completely agree!
Its inexcusable but I don't think there is currently any company who provides this on there so called maps. |

AA Navigator now has full maps of Ireland, see here for further information.
AA Navigator uses Navteq map data, whilst Navman now use Tele Atlas map data. Let's hope that Tele Atlas will do the same and map Ireland very soon. Tele Atlas should also do the Channel Islands too because Navteq did those years ago!

Interesting, thankyou. Seems to have been "reasonably" well received so far. I wonder is Northern Ireland mapping as good though and if so, can this software be run on a 520? dont fancy buying another satnav so soon. |
