I reckon its a good thing that most of the operators of the speed vans are ex-force.
Why?
Cos after 20 years or more of service they can see the difference between:
1. A car driving at 90mph towards a speed trap (on a M-way) and seeing it from a long distance away and adjusting their speed accordingly... and
2. A car driving along at 79mph towards a speed camera, seeing it at the very last minute and braking to 50 in panic.
Now both are speeding and technically braking the law but the first driver would be showing that he is been observant to the road ahead. 2nd driver isnt concentrating enough to see the camera van, doesnt know the speed limit and needs his eyes testing! |
