|
|
I've trawled the threads and can't see one for this issue.
I'm looking to upgrade my TT1 with maps for western Europe. It would appear that I can do this in one of two ways.
1. Purchase the the map on an SD card - around £200
2. Purchase on 6 cdroms (around £100) and transfer onto bigger SD card (£15)
If I choose option 2 above, would I effectively end up with the same as option 1 and save myself £85 or am I missing something
Cheers |

With option 2 you would have to switch maps when you came to map boundaries in order to maintain street-level navigation. _________________ Tim |

Either way, you will have great coverage of the area. You just have to decide how much money you want to spend in light of how easy it would be to have the SD card with everything on it. |

The something you may be missing is the cost of the SD card. For all of the Western Europe maps you will require a 2Gb card and I doubt very much that you will be able to buy one with the requisite specification for £15 more like £60. Of course you can use a smaller card and load only selected country data. I have a 1Gb card onto which I have added the Speed camera database plus maps for GB+, France, Switzerland, Austria and Italy. That leaves 50Mb spare which is not sufficient for any further country map data. |

But isn't the new seamless map the one in the 710 - with Eastern Europe lopped off?
No Poland, Czech Republic and Athens? _________________ TTGO 700 (dead)

Not sure - I haven't had a chance to open a card, won#t be able to sell it afterwards ;-), but the Buffer Zone :-) is not a part of Western Europe anyway. |

According to one of the few stockists of these, TT have stopped supplying the more detailed 2Gb version by reducing the road coverage.
I quote: " To fit things onto 1GB they have reduced coverage of countries and also this will not work with Navigator 5. The 1GB card supports the GO series, ONE and the Rider. I believe Poland is missing too!" |

The one only comes with UK maps. Is is possible to install the major routes of europe without having to buy the detailed versions? |

If you buy a "plus" map of any country, you will get that country in detail and the rest of Europe as major roads. The major roads of the whole of Europe (no country in detail) was only available with original "Classic". _________________ TTGO 700 (dead)
