hi all:
thought of starting a new thread since earlier thread was getting away from the initial topic.
at the moment my problem is selecting a powered car mount for x51!
now for past few days i trawled thru' this pgps and google etc..
thought it might be cheaper to buy all in one than seperately.. also less fixing of wires etc.
finally down to following options;
1. arkon powered gps mount ? CM 820
(which has built in speaker, power supply to pda, in built gps= sirf2)
price 68.95 to 79.95£ from uk re -sellers!
2. seidio G4850(s)
( above all of arkon plus sirf3 - gpd chip)
price 114.13£ with postage
but no uk seller stocking particular item!
3. last but promising holux CR100
very similar to seidio but but could not find details whether it is compat with x51.............!!!!!!!!!! also supposed to be smaller form factor!
otherwise had good reviews!
now
any one out there had experience with these units with x51s...........
or which is better out of the three? |

Hi,
I have an AXIM X51v and use the ARKON mount WITHOUT the internal GPS (sorry can't remember model number off hand) as I already have a TomTom GPSII unit.
It's very nice - speaker is capable of good volume - maybe a little 'tinny' for some tastes - but not bad. It powers the Axim via the connector port and connects the AXIM to the amp/speaker with a separate cable. It also provides 5V for charging/powering a BT GPS unit with a 'spare' USB connector to provide power for another device (eg mobile phone).
You need to mount it in such a way that the whole unit is supported on the dashboard otherwise you may find that you get more vibration than you can visually tolerate.

u r right!
axim 51v is as loud as an acern35 (which is supposed to be loud among pda's).
can hear my axim reasonably well even without the powered mount!
i donot find much difference in voice with or with out the mount!!! |
