Hi, hope you can help, I have a TomTom Rider, but as I'm riding around the place, it powers itself down intermittingly, the wiring was fitted but a bike shop and I have had that checked and it seems to be ok.

The unit is ok when attached to the main power at home, any suggestions?

One possibility is that the connection between the unit and cradle isn't secure. Removing the unit from the cradle results in powering down so maybe vibrations are simulating such a removal.

Mounting the rider was easy less than 5 mins to have it up and running on the handlebar’s , it has a very good start’s guide (did’nt read it until I got home ) the mounting kit is very good too, but the battery cable has a lot wrong with it 1/its to stiff and does not fit in the connector so with the rider on the handlebar’s when you turn it flexes the two wires and given time they will break 2/ the big gap from the connector and the cable lets water in and runs down in side the cable to your battery so look out 3/ my battery is 9 inch wide and you only get 2 inch of wire at the end of the cable 4/ the connector will not click into place , the black mount stop it from going all the way in
no 4/ make sure the plug goes all the way in you mite have to trim a bit off it

Hi mikie9112,

Your unit's defective, simple as that. Is it new? Take it back, get a replacement. My first one had a fault - took it back to Infinity Motorcycles, they gave me a new one straight away. The unit has a battery in it, so even if it was a dodgy connection to the charger pads, you wouldn't expect it to switch off.

Courierman,

Points 1 and 4 are solved by removing the cradle from the back plate, clipping the connector on, and then refitting the back plate. On my unit, the bag the cable came in has a diagram on it which indicates that you have to do this. Do that and it goes on nicely and is secure.

Point 2 and 3 are true though.

-Mark

mike i do not leave my cradle poweredup ( rain will sort it out ) so i cut a bit off the connector so it plugs in and out easy there is a click as it fits in
and reread point 1 its about the wires and the outer cable being to stiff
