|
|
picked up a nav 5 (bluetooth job) a week or two ago and its been great. breathed new life into my Zire72 for sure.
i got it off ebay, and it the supplier (innovationsUK) provided a free POI speed cam database, which despite them saying wasnt the one from here, it lists the cams in the POI as pocketGPS worlds. i promptly installed it an all is well
but a few days ago, i tried to navigate to a postcode. this feature had previously worked fine when i got the nav 5. it produce this error
"no usable locations near cursor"
trying a second time yields the same error and a software crash.
what does that mean? how can i fix it? (system restore does not fix this for me)
thanks in advance |

eBay Seller InnovationsUK is not authorised to sell our database yet I see they are currently doing so.
Certain resellers are authorised to bundle a single release of our database with hardware sales as a promotion but only when they provide clear guidance that the database is ours and updates are only available to subscribers from our website.
As they are selling the database without our permission I have reported then to eBay. If they were previously authorised to offer our database with hardware this authorisation will be withdrawn. _________________ Darren Griffin |

At what point does this happen? Can you navigate to addresses without using PostCodes? _________________ Darren Griffin |

https://www.innovationsuk.org/
is there website
and http://www.innovationsuk.org/catalog/speedcamera.php
is the link they provided me in the email with receipt of payment
here is a picture of what the POI thingy looks like
http://pics.bbzzdd.com/users/otispunkmeyer/IMG_2436.JPG
LMK if the pic link doesnt work, that host is mainly for Anandtech.com users.
to Darren - yeah i can still navigate by address, but it is nice to do it by post code. it happened after i tried to navigate to the Hard Rock Cafe's post code in nottingham, which they say is number 11 king street. but the TomTom software said 11 King street does not exist, but 10 King street does. and since then postcode navigation has ceased to function. |

from the way they worded it i got the impression that i was getting tomtom's data base.
quote from the auction
WE PROVIDE THE TOMTOM PLUS SPEED CAMERA SOFTWARE WITH THIS ITEM
Have the best software NOT the one provided above
TOMTOM PLUS CAMERA DATABASE HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO OFFER LIVE DATA - WE OFFER THIS FOR FREE RATHER THAN THE THE DATABASE AVAILABLE WIDELY
AVAILABLE ONLY WHILE STOCKS LAST
now that to me says im gettin the TomTom speed cam software, and not the supposedly inferior one linked above which links to the pocketGPS world data base subscrption |

I've passed this onto TomTom as well as I suspect they are not permitted to offer TomTom's PLUS database either. _________________ Darren Griffin |

ok TomTom sent me a updated version of the .postal file that sits in the folder named zip
only one problem, it seems to be much bigger than the original and thus wont fit on the puny 128mb card. its a very good job i had a spare 512 card lying around isnt it TomTom?
still this seems to of fixed the problem so i guess i am happy |

From Innovations UK.
We apologise to pocket gps world for the use of their database. We did however, have authorisation.
In regards to the ebay ad and the tomtom plus speed camera database, this was in fact obtained from tomtom direct via a promotional code which could be entered in the tomtom website. Obviously, we only had limited stock of these, hence the "while stocks last" notice.
Innovations UK do respect copyright laws and where necessary obtain the relevant permission. |

That is incorrect, we have never granted any permission for you to re-sell our database which is what you have been doing. _________________ Darren Griffin |
