|
|
Anyone any comments? Is it a good general all round combo for use in car, on foot and as a PDA (using Excel, Word and Outlook)?
Any others for around the same money that I should be comparing with (upto £300)?
Also,
Do TomTom GB maps include the channel islands?
Thanks
G. |

I'm also planning to purchase a Mio P350 but am holding back because 1. It's not shown as compatible on the TomTom site 2. Evidently there are issues with activation codes, similar to the Mio A201.
I just checked TTN5 for St. Helier and St. Peter Port on both the GB and France maps and nothing showed. _________________ Formerly known as Lost_Property

Can't say exactly for the p350, but I have a p550 + TTN5 which I believe is identical but for the addition of wireless and bluetooth.
Tomtom works perfectly ok on the p550 (came on an sd card). I did have to fathom out how to configure the built in gps - there were no instructions either with tomtom or the mio: In tomtom go into Change preferences/Show GPS Status/Configure, and select GPS_COM.
So far so good. |

This is an answer I got from GlobalPositioningSystems when enquiring about compatibility.
Quote: | Is it the preloaded SD card and separate European mapping only CD you have or is it the full CD with Software and maps? If it is the latter it may not work as this has caused problems with Mio units in the past, but the SD card and mapping only CD should work.

OK, so there could be compatability issues. Sod's law says that mine won't work, so what could I be looking at instead?
As for the channel islands - I suppose they're so small that I doubt I'll get lost |

Yes, I saw that Mike and started making arrangements to get one and contacted GPS to confirm it would work with my discs, as they showed only pre-loaded cards. I then saw in another forum that some people had experienced problems. One person provided a link to obtain a 'patch', which I thought would be similar to the Mio A201 problems, and actually passed it on to a post here.
What a mistake. It turned out it was a 'crack' not a 'patch'.
I realise sdrury has his working but he doesn't say whether the maps were pre-loaded or from disc.
What's really confusing is it says on the Mio site
Quote: | As long as it runs on the Windows Mobile 5 operating platform, the P350 can support the GPS software of your choice.

I've had a quick surf around the TomTom site and can't find the compatability list. Can someone point me please? I might just have to end up with another PDA
Thanks in advance. |

I've got a P550 which is apparently the same as the P350, just with bluetooth and wifi. Activation was problem free. That doesnt help, as I can't get any damn signal, but thats another issue...

If you need to find your own way there:
www.tomtom.com
Choose support
Choose PDA navigation
Its question number 5
Good luck!

Purchased a P350 + TTN5 c/w Maps of Western Europe for my company. Installing software and activation of maps was trouble free.
All appears to be working fine.

Hi Tewy,
Was it the SD card version or the CD version?
I just don't want to get stuck with a combo that may cause me problems because it's for my wife |
