Hello,
I am thinking of getting the Navman ICN 520 from Costso (its on offer BTW)
I have not owned one before and am getting it as we are going to France for holiday's.
Anyways a couple of easy questions for you folks.
1/ What software does this run? I have seen TomTom mentioned in a few posts relating to Navman, is this the software that runs on many of these GPS.
2/ If the software is TomTom does that mean that any TomTom downloads are compatable?
3/ As I am going to France I would need to get the French maps. I have seen these on Ebay but I have also read today that it needs to have a password to activate it. Has anybody done this with the Ebay maps? |

The iCN520 runs Navman SmartST 2005 software as standard. It can be made to run TomTom software but then of course you'd have to buy the TomTom software and maps as an additional expense.
I wouldn't buy maps on eBay myself. There is too much risk involved. _________________ Tim |

I really bought the unti for using on aholiday in France. It might be the only time we go there for holiday so the thought of spending another £120 is not good! I have seen the maps on Ebay for £30 |

Buy the 620 single region map update from Navman for £20.
http://www.navmanstores.com/eu/product_details.php?
category=Software+%26+Maps&id=88Then when you register the map choose France as your selected region, and 'Voila'so to speak!! Yes it does state iCN 620 but it also worked on the iCN510 believe it or not, so I think it will work on the 520 too.
Also if you choose the £40 European option, then you can have the whole of Europe.
