|

Hi all,
Just bought an i3 and updated it to the latest firmware revision. (3.10). Just got in my car to test it out but it's stuck on locating satellites (tried for 10-15 mins).
Does it need to be activated first? No mention of what to do in the user manual that comes with it.
Thanks, Karl |

As usual, I've done things arse backwards. Just read the faq section. So will try the advice given there first.

No, it doesn't need to be activated first but it can take some time to locate satellites the first time you switch on.
Make sure it is outside, has got plenty of open sky around, and doesn't move about at all. If you haven't got a lock in about 30 mins (I think) then you've probably got a problem

Thats still a long time I had this problem with the latest firmware(3.10) then rolled back to V2.7 now locks on to sats in under a minute ....always keep a set of batteries in the unit even if you use the cig adaptor this way it sort of retains its memory if you like and locks on quicker |

Mine used to lock on in a few seconds on 2.7, now i'm on 3.1 and it took 15 minutes today, not happy, Garmin should sort this out |

Maybe I didn't explain myself clearly.
I meant it took 5-10 mins for the initial satellite locations (as it was the first time I was using it). Now it picks them up straight away. |

I've found that my i3 can take up to 5 minutes to locate satelites if I haven't used it for a while, esxpecially if I get on the move before turning it on.
But, if I'm at home, it latches on in seconds.
Weird.... _________________ Nuvi 660, VW GOLF
