Wireless data connection problem Tom Tom GO 510

Hi can anyone help i have just bought a Tom Tom G0 510 and im using a Samsung D500 to use with the Tom Tom plus services however when trying to access it i keep getting "Could not establish a wireless data connection,please check your mobile phone " Im on the o2 network and would i need to alter any settings in order to get a connection.
