Installed the drivers and PC recognizes when I connect via the USB and turn it on.
But I see no way to access the mapsource software. I don't see any icons for opening and the unit doesn't show up in Windows Explorer.
The (pitiful) manual says absolutely nothing about working from a PC. The only disk that came with the unit was for the USB drivers. Should there be something else?
Am I missing something? |

You did not get a DVD with it, with maps on them? Then phone Garmin and ask for it, they will send it out for free. _________________ Robert Elsinga =8- )

Yes, I purchased new and had it replaced since the first one would not charge. The replacement was shipped before mine was received, so they are completely different packages. Neither box contained any software other than the USB drivers.
The unit does have all the mapsource software pre-loaded, but I want to pre-plan a trip on a pc and download to the unit. Since it didn't come with s/w, I figured maybe there was a way to run it when the unit was connected via usb.
Hopefully Garmin will supply what I need. I really don't want to send back another one. |

Just wanted to let everyone know the outcome. I reached Garmin tech support via email. Telephone access is extremely difficult (busy signals or 30minute+ wait time).
The support person said that the Quest 2 does not come with the software, but since I asked, he would be happy to send it to me.
While I don't understand why they wouldn't provide it with the unit, I'm grateful they are sending it. Should be here any day now. |

Any chance you could tell me whom you emailed at quest (the address that is)? I may have a similar problem as you and may be needing that disk as well. |

I think in order to get an email response you have to register your product and sign on to with Garmin.com. While logged in, go to the tech support page and submit your question/problem. Once they respond to your email (took 2-3 days) then you can reply to the email and they will respond to the reply much faster (2-4 hours in my case)
I don't know of a way to email them without going through the website.
As a further follow up, I received my software on a DVD but they did not send an unlock code and the one that came with my unit did not work. They sent me one via email today that I will try tonight. |

Thank you very much! I will probably go register and email them through the website. Hopefully this will solve my problem as well . |

The issue at long last is finally resolved. To make a long story short, they sent me the wrong disk two seperate times. Once I got the correct one, everything worked as it is supposed to.
Why it took all this time and countless emails to figure it out, I'll never know. |
