Hi All
I downloaded the camera database on the 9th June 2006. The new database seems to have deleted some Gatso cameras that are still live and working. For example GATSO2875@40 and GATSO2287@40 are now missing.
I have a Navman icn530 but I think the problem is related to the core camera data because I asked a friend to check that these two cameras were on his Tom Tom GO - they were - and then download and install the database. He did this and the same two cameras no longer show on the Tom Tom GO.
I am concerned that there may be other "live" cameras that have also been deleted. I am new to this downloading so maybe I'm doing something stupid? No doubt someone will soon tell me! |

to the forum Adam,
Just had a look at your 2 gatso's in the May database (latest)
GATSO:2287@30 51.85117, -2.25724 exists on the database and is shown as a 30mph location.
GATSO2875@40 is as you said no longer on the database.
If the speed / location for 2287 is incorrect and also if 2875 exists please complete the camera notification form at http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Cameras
so that the keepers of the database can verify and update to ensure accurcy. |

Before I start............I am a beginner at this!!
I reported that GATSO2875@40, which is on the A22 at Halland in East Sussex, had been removed from the database. This camera is not far from my home and I drive pass it frequently.
Firstly, I assume that someone must have reported that the camera had been removed and secondly, that someone else subsequently verified that the camera had been removed. Except it has not been removed. It is still there and has been there for some years, so how can this happen? At first I thought ok, these things happen. But on reflection, how do they happen? And do they happen frequently?
I have no gripe with paying for the camera database and I appreciate that as with any database, errors can creep in. I just want to understand the process used to verify submissions. Who repored that the camera on the A22 at Halland had been removed and who "verified" the supposed removal? Are the procedures for verifiying the removal of a camera different to those used for adding a camera? I ask because it would seem that it is better to leave a "removed" camera in the database until absolute verification has been made.
thanks
