Just bought a TT1 all fine but just noticed today that the time seems to stop when i switch it off, ie when i switch it back on it shows the time when switched off. I know the thing has an internal battery that is supposed to keep the time. So how come it isn't ? any ideas. I'm thing perhaps it re-sysncs with the sats when switch on but i'm not sure this is the case and i think the sync'ing option is a manual thing? I have done a reset but no joy. I'm sure when i bought it the time stayed ok. Only thing i have added is the speed camera database. Offers of help greatly acceptted ! or should i return as faulty?
Cheers. |

which app version are you running? 5.41 or did you update to 5.42 or 5.45? _________________ GO1005

I just bought a TT1 and it came pre-installed with 5.450. The clock stops when it is switched off, and the clock does not automatically sync with the sats so the ETA shown etc is always very wrong unless you go through loads of screens to manually sync. As far as I can see this is broken. I have used various GPS devices since 2002 and this is the first I have come across that ignores the sats for setting the time and seems to be designed to give useless ETA info! Other than that the device is excellent and is much better (faster, smoother, clearer and more visible) than using TT on my PPC. |

Mine is exactly the same as Julians. Absolute nonsense! I shall try the reset tthing later, otherwise I'll send it back if it can't be resolved. It's a fairly major flaw! |

Have never had problems with my clock. I did upgrade to 5.45, then back to 5.42 as I didn't like 5.45. There doesn't seem much difference between these firmware versions (other than screen brightness), so try going back to 5.42 and see if it cures the poblem. _________________ Tommo...

I am running 5.45, this is how it came from new. Will try reset etc, alothough i have done this before. May try going back to earlier firmware. Saying that havn't checked out how difficult that is. Got to be honest and say the clock thing for me is a minor annoyance not sure if i will take it back just for that, as a few button press's corrects the clock. Not sure i can be bothered to go through the hassel of returning it to PC World !!
Reckon i'll just keep looking for a fix perhaps in firmware 6?? |

I've really lost my patience with this now! I've tried resetting with no joy. Mine is only a couple of weeks old with the latest software. I rang customer support (it's a task just to find their number - which says something about the company to me). They were not helpful, nor sympathetic. Basically, they can't explain it.
If I hadn't coughed up on accessories for it, I'd send it back.
Meantime, is there any way to install an earlier version of the software to see if that fixes it? |

Did you ever get a solution for this ?
I've just bought a brand new TomTom One which came with 5.45 software installed and I'm having the same problem.
What happens is that if I set the time (for example to 9am), then use the device for a few hours and then turn it off. When I turn it back on the time shows what it was when I last set it (e.g. 9am).
It looks like the RealTimeClock in the unit isn't running at all, and just remains at the time it was set to. The software clock runs OK when the unit is turned on, but as soon as I turn it off it reverts back to the last time it was set to.
I've tried resetting it and loading the default configuration with no luck. I've also tried various combinations of power/depowering having set the clock in different ways.
I've seen quite a few mentions of this on the internet but nobody seems to have a cure for it. |

I just stuck a pin in the reset hole as per my post above, and the time on my ONE (which has not been synced with the sats since) keeps perfect time. |

I asked the same question a couple of days ago, the reply "which sounds feasible" is that it is a common problem and TomTom haven't sorted out the problem yet.
With regards to rolling back to a previous version, if I understand correctly there are not as many POI sound capabilities as with v5.450.
You could try the auto-sync time set-up once it's found a signal, thats a quicker way? |
