|
|
Quote: | There are a total of 8968 cameras in the database. 3590 Gatso, 3957 Mobiles, 65 Temporary, 140 Specs, 238 Truvelo, and 978 Redlight Cameras |
It says there are now 8968 camera locations but the GPX file clearly shows 9519
Which of the 551 extra locations on my download are inacurate?
On opening, the file is still 5608KB after discussion on this issue since October. |

i believe the 8k figure is the number of confirmed camera's with known speeds, i think the remaining 500 oir so are those with no known speed yet.
as for the size, when uploaded using poiloader it drops to 660kb in gpi format. the extra size is due to the code needed for gpx format.

Of the 9519 camera locations in the GPX file, 1289 have no speed value.

As soon as I open the download I resave it as a gpx file and it is only then 893KB. Why do they not sent out this gpx file?
|
Where is the real answer to this problem?
Why are there 551 more locations in the GPX file than published on the top of the download page?
Which are the accurate locations? |

strumble,
I think that MikeB has overlooked the Pending Mobile cameras when he totted up the number of cameras in each group. Pending Mobile cameras are those that still have to be confirmed, either by a visit to the site or a second independent submission. At the time of the release these must have totalled 551.
So your GPX file is OK.

what do you open it with and resave it with? when uploaded is it still 660kb after being poi-loader'd?
are you writing in large red letters because you're angry at me? if so, then i can't apologise as i don't know what i've done...

When I unzip the download file it appears as a 5MB .gpx file, and when I open it in Mapsource and re-save it in MapSource it becomes a 893KB file!
It is this procedure that is strange as just by re-saving it changes from 5MB to 893KB.
Both the iQue and the 60CS [that I use] do not use the poi-loader so all work is done on MapSource.
No, I'm definitely not angry, I was just inserting clear text within your 'quotes' so that it stands out. :D |

Garmin have changed the format of their GPX file a few times recently. I will have another look at it to see if the same functionality, ie different camera types placed in separate categories, can be achieved with a smaller file.
If you email the reduced size file to me then I will see what I can do.
