I have been a Tomtom user on PDA since V1. Recently decided with change of vehicle to buy an AIO unit - wanted one with handsfree BT, covering Europe, so the TT Go 5/710 and Nuvi 360 were the front runners.
I absolutely love the TT interface and software, but have heard too many bad things about the new TT mounts. Also, the size of the things means you can't really slip them into a pocket and carry them around, so would no doubt end up leaving hidden in car - and knowing my luck getting stolen.
This really left the Nuvi at the top of the list - small size, and with everything I need and more.
So I bought one....
First of all, what a lovely little thing. Ideally sized. Second, great satellite sensitivity from the SirfIII - had 12 locked sats from my bedroom. TTS works great (better with male voice than female). BT seems more than useable. We'll reserve judgement on the other travel "extras" until later.
However....
3D rendering a bit slow and clunky compared with TT. Also, maps look a bit cartoonish in comparison.
Major problems :
1. Address lookup. I had trouble finding many addresses that with TT were much easier.
2. Map screen. If you browse the map, you can add a pinpoint to favourites etc. BUT - if you find an address, but want to select it more accurately on the map, you can't. Only option from map screen is "back".
This is a major problem for me.
3. Driving without a route set, lag is terrible. Almost bears no resemblance to where you are on the road - and at roundabouts, the arrow sits lost and spinning while you a yards down the road.
I'm sure I'll remember / discover more problems AND things I like over the coming days, but for now, I will give it the benefit of the doubt, but may uet end up sending it back.
If only TT did a small, slim, Europe covering, BT AIO...

Forgot to mention - the Nuvi mount is great, simplicity itself.
May have a source of 17mm hard rubber balls to fashion some custom mounts. Will be testing soon.

Lag when in 'idle' mode would be annoying for me, espeically when being used for speed cameras. Does it warn of speed cameras when not routing?
when in 'idle' mode if the screen lags it still knows your position and will warn you of camera's etc. - it's just the updating of the display that is slow not it's knowledge of your position.
you will get warnings of camera's whether you are in navigation mode or not

Hi to all.
In the absence of a reply from simkna, I'll stick my tuppence worth in.
I've been running a 360 for 4 weeks now after returning a TT910 with mount and software issues.
I have to say apart from the screen lag (sometimes) I have no complaints about this unit.
The user interface is simplicity itself.
The mount is a dream to use.
I've had no trouble finding addresses in London, Surrey & Northampton so far.
The bluetooth connection to my phone is top notch. Don't even need to use an external mike (unlike the TT910), as callers tell me speech is clear using the inbuilt mike.
Speed (or is it safety) cameras work a treat. (I'm using Ash10's utility to tweak them from their default settings).
All the other functions like mp3 player, picture viewer and audiobooks all work (unlike the TT910).
So apart from the occasional screen lag, all in all one happy bunny. :D
