|
|
Would it help to solve any issues if we all put our Unit ID, less last 2 digits, and Software version...found in Settings...About...in this thread...together with approx date of purchase?
This will show whether it is a problem with the early versions of the i3 or not.
Mine is...
Unit ID 31461210XX
Version 2.70
January 2006

Just received this from Garmin, Quote: | Thank you for contacting Garmin Europe.
In regard to your email, it is not suggested that users revert back to
previous update versions. I would suggest resetting unit:
With the unit switched off and a fresh set of batteries please try the
following, press and hold WHEEL DOWN + BACK ARROW + ON all at the same time.
hit the power button last once the wheel down and arrow is pressed.
If the above fails then we will pass your suggestions onto our engineers, to
incorporate a remedy in future updates with more information. |
Unit ID 31485110xx
Software Version 2.7
Audio Version 2.00
Purchased from Halfords in April |

excuse my language but garmin are now talking .
several of us, me included had emails from them that quite clearly stated that until a fix was made with 2.9 then we were advised to revert back to a previous f/w option.
clearly a fix was not brought about with 3.0.
my suggestion to people at the moment is if you are having problems with 2.9 or 3.0 then revert to 2.7 or 2.82. once newer versions come out then try if not happy then revert back to the one you were pleased with.
2.7 is good
2.82 gives earlier voice prompts but does not list poi's in groups only as a list nearest first.
3.10 is now available so those who wish to try please use that topic for your findings, as i know you will, because we did it for 2.9 and 3.0. likewise email garmin with your points of woe.
good luck and remember dont ask where can i get the downloads for previous f/w from they are on my sticky at the start of the forum. |

As far as I can see, 3.1 is no different from 3.0.
Went out in map maode and the screen froze at the first major junction. Came back in Nav mode and no problems.
Back to 2.7 for me. |

Quote: | Changes made from version 3.00 to 3.10:
* Added support for Polish and Hungarian voice guidance (Requires new audio version).
* Corrected a bug where MSAS test signal could cause the unit to shut down.
|
Hardly going to cure the problems. |

Out of interst Coaster, are you on eggnog stats?
I have loaded 3.10 (in the interest of testing for the user pop) on the way to work had lots of delays/lock ups, was running in 3Dmode, eggnogs on. Part way, pulled over and switched to track up, still slow to track the map (at one point I was heading off to the right?).
On the way home, I switched to standard sats and track up and got it to navigate home - I was impressed, tracked quickly and not one lock up.
Will leave as is and try map view on the way to work and see if it locks on the way.
If anyone else has loaded any version above 2.70 (the only one) then it would be helpful to see if its the eggnog or normal sats. _________________ Acefreecell

Hi All,
Got my i3 last Friday it was on firmware version 3.0 and audio 2.5 straight out of the box. Initial satellite lock time was around 3 minutes and to be honest I cant fault the thing. Turn warnings are accurate and well timed, the map is where I am at all times whether Im in navigate or map mode. I have experimented with eggnos and GPS and I can't say that I've noticed a significant difference between them. I for one am very pleased with the unit although I have nothing to compare my experiences with as I havent tried any of the previous firmware versions.

Had a Garmin i3 street pilot for a while and am happy with it.Recently however I have come across a couple of routes in the wilds of Lincolnshire where turn offs haven't existed or been dead ends. Also in Lincoln city centre I was directed to go the wrong way up a one way street.
My question is
Is it possible to download updated maps and if so how? |
