|

Hi all.
I've just downloaded an audio book from audible.com using audible's software then copied it to the TT. Their software says it's installed on the TT but the Audio book icon is still greyed out on the unit.
Any ideas?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi CeeJay
I have the same problem. After extensive emails back & forward with TomTom Support the bottom line was as follows:-
"Dear Mr./Ms Robertson,
At the moment we do not have a solution available for this issue.
However, we have identified the cause and we are working on a
solution which probably will be made available via our site in the
near future.
Thank you for this valuable feedback and please keep an eye on our site.
With best regards,
The TomTom Customer Support Team"
That was after answering some deep probing questions like "have you tried turning the unit off and switching it back on again?" Damn, never thought of that :-)
Rgds

Hi jaycr.
I've seen that other people have got it working OK.
How can some units work and some not? They're all made from the same 'bits' and v6.020 is v6.020 wherever you are.
Now totally confused

Have you downloaded the Audible manager? When your TomTom is connected to your computer it will show all your downloads as well as the samples in the lower section of Audible manager. Click on activate under devices & they should all work then. _________________ TomTom Go 910 (3) v.6.522 Map Western Europe v.650 with useless TMC receiver

I'm having the same problem. It seems to be intermittent though. Sometimes the thigs are there. Sometimes they're not....
Good to see they're working on it, but I really hope they'll have it sorted soon - it was one of the main buyings points for me |

Welcome to the club! - yesterday I wanted a greyed out icon of the audio books and its not difficult to create, add some mp3 etc un-dock from the PC and I had the screen shot I needed, it then took me a further two hours to get the audio books back displayed on the unit , go to Audible Manager and try a refresh, if this fails prod the 910 reset hole (its next to the connector on the underside - do not prod the hole on the front panel as that is the microphone - RTFM on this one as you could cause serious damage to your device), if this fails try a re-dock to the PC then fire up audible manager and play a clip from you desired audio book - this was the only way I found last night to get it back - Mike |

So far, the only thing that sorts mine out is having no mp3s on the 910 along with Audiobooks. |

Hi HappyTrucker.
Haven't tried any mp3's yet, and for the moment don't think I'll bother till it's sorted.
Once again thanks for all your help.

Mp3s seem to work with no problems (although I've not managed to get playlists working yet). It just seems that mp3s with Audiobooks causes some sort of software glitch. |

You have to use a program like Windows Media Player or itunes to create a playlist (make sure you save it as a .m3u file) then load it on to the Tomtom.
You can't create playlists on the tomtom |

Ooops....Just missed you Vicky.
I did that, and they didn't show up on the TT. Will play about with it tomorrow when I get in from work (just going now).
However, I'm reluctant to do anything that may eradicate my audiobooks again. You'd think I'd have learned after Windows XP - never buy anything on first release |

Just to update - still got the audiobooks (for now) but still no luck with mp3 playlists. Used Media PLayer and Winamp to create one, but when uploaded to TT - nothing. Any particular format to use? |
