Hi, started another thread then found this one. I tried to install my ttg300 from 5.420 to 5.440 but no joy stayed the same version. Went to tt support and they took me through step by step and only by formatting the sd card and using specific files from tt would it owrk. When I reloaded my other files, speed camera and poi stuff, it reverted back to 5.420. My question is do I really need this update? I do not have permanent docking or handsfree (ttg300) so should I just leave it?
cheers

AFAIK 5.440 only sorted out some handsfree phone issues. If you don't use that, no point in it at all. |

Fair point. There are some other minor changes:
Quote: |
- It's even easier to start a Traffic trial on your device.
- After setting up TomTom Traffic, it is automatically enabled.
- Streets with the same name in towns that are close together are not confused in this version.
- The quality of the sound has been optimised when using hands-free calling (GO 500 and 700).
- Version 5.420 is compatible with more mobile phones.
- All entries in the phonebook, on mobile phones compatible with this feature, are now transferred to your TomTom device, no matter where they are stored. |

cheers for this. It does look therefore not much use for the ttg300?
so no real loss then

|
|
I'm currently running 5.2 on my Go classic - no known issues for what I do with it.
Is there any advantage to me installing 5.44.
Some were claiming greater GPS sensitivity -which I'm surprised at.
Any opinions
TIA

Thanks for the comments so far. I still see no obvious benefit for TTG300 users and I am beginning to wonder how far the support actually will go on for in regards to worthwhile updates for the TTG300. _________________ TTG300 with version 7.903. (9183/081205)OS:2344, GPS v1.21 Boot 4.8600

I believe version 6 will be made available for the 300/500/700, and will have some new functionality.
An update from 5.2 to 5.44 is probably worth it, but from 5.420 to 5.440 is only going to be something pretty minor. |

It will be virtually the same as what is now on the new x10 models, so have a look at the reviews and posts about them.
(Obviously none of the hardware specific stuff like text to speech and hands-fre will be available on models that didn't have them before, though). |

Is the text to speech hardware based, rather than software? _________________ Jock
