This looks like a good deal to me. Am I missing something?
Thinking of getting it for a christmas present.
Any views on Dell Axim or the GPS unit?

Depends whether it's the performance (400MHz) version of the Dell or not
Always check with the prices on the Dell site _________________ Nick |

It uses the X5 which we reviewed which does have High Sensitivity enabled out of the box (no way of disabling it). The receiver both Mike and I found to be pretty good and can be seen here at http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/rikaline-gps-6010-x5.php
Some people find the Dell's and Dell Support okay, others try to avoid them. Personally I haven't tried a Dell Pocket PC, I've always stayed with Compaq/HP. I've had various Pocket PC's but generally find the build quality of the iPAQ's pretty good and have never needed to sway to the dark side. |

What is high sensitivity?
I use an IPAQ myself but the bundles with an IPAQ are over £500.
Looking at Dells site, nicknicks comment above is spot on, it depends which version of X5 it is. |

High Sensitivity=XTrac. Check http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/xtracornoxtrac.php
It's not just anything other than the 400Mhz Dell's that have problems. Dells do have other problems across their whole brand. Like the serial port not recognising serial devices correctly and having to go through the rigmoral of connecting handheld GPS receivers in a particular way. Also people have had problems with Dell's support. |

Greetings. Not sure what you mean by "It's not just anything other than the 400Mhz Dell's that have problems".
Does that mean the Dell 400Mhz has problems or not? And with what?
By the way, I can't see whay the plural of Dell isn't Dells and not Dell's as so often seen in these forums. Best regards.

We have 2 Axims and are happy with them in the context that they are a fair bit cheaper than the Ipaqs and are really only used for TomTom.
However, support from Dell is consistently appalling. When one Axim died when it was only a couple of days old it took a week and several phone calls and emails to get it replaced because it was too new for the next business day replacement warranty to apply!
Also, if you have any problems with the TomTom bits then Dell will simply refer you direct to TomTom support who will just ignore you. This can be very frustrating!

Hmmm thanks for this, not sure whether to get the Dell and TT2 as per Dells site, Dell plus TT2 software and Rikaline or nothing at all now.
In that case my brother and I have to find something else to get as a pressie! |
