|
|
Ive downloaded and executed "ttgo544upd.exe" on my old Tom-Tom Go and chose to backup my personal settings. I then plugged in my shiny new 700, did the same and chose to restore my personal settings. On the screen it says I was successful, but on my 700 I still have no favourites and my home address did not set. Please can anyone tell me where im going wrong...
Hopeless in London! |

Your personal settings are held in the .cfg File in the Map Folder.
The Map Folder will have a different name on the Original GO, compared to the 700.
You will probably find that you have an additional Map Folder on the 700 now that contains the settings that you 'restored'.
I don't know if the File structure is compatable between the Devices, but the Filename will also be different, (the same as the Map Folder). _________________ Richard

On the 700 there will be a Folder called something like Western_Europe-Map, (I'm not sure as I don't have a 700).
In that Folder will be a File named Western_Europe-Map.cfg.
Note: you will need to Have File Extensions showing to see it all. Go to Folder Options, View and UnTick the Option to 'Hide Extensions for Known File Types'.
You probably have a Folder called Great_Britain-Map on the 700 as well. This will have a File named Great_Britain-Map.cfg in it.
This is the File that you need to Copy to your Western Europe Map Folder. _________________ Richard

Hi Richard. I did exactly as you sugested. I copied the Great Britain.cfg file from my TomTom 'Go' (Only 13 KB in size)and dropped it into the Western_Europe-Map Folder in the 700. but still my favourites did not move across. Am i missing something?

Possibly.... :D
Did you rename it? It MUST have the same name as the folder it is in.
I.e. in this case you rename it from "Great_Britain-Map.cfg" to "Western_Europe-Map.cfg", (replacing the one that is already there). |

Gents, thanks for your help. I really thought i was there. Richard, I followed your instructions, but forgetting to rename the file as per the folder which i then did when Andy reminded me. Then, hey presto, my favourites folder was highlighted showing that there were some favourites there.
Now... (Nothings ever simple), when i browsed my favourites, they are not my favourites from my TomTom go, but a load of addresses i dont recognise. The thing is, I bought this 700 off a friend who has upgraded to a 900, and when i bought it it was like it had a factory reset. Im asuming what i have done is reloaded his favourites, but i dont understand, because im copying the file directly from my TomTom Go sim card!
Confused? you soon will be.
Theres a prize for anyone clever enough to help me get MY favourites. |

Fellas, problem solved. Many thanks for all your help. Fot future info though, the file that had My favourites in wasnt the "Great_Britain-Map.cfg". It was the "Great_Britain Navigator Map.cfg" in the Great_Britain Navigator Map" folder. The tomtom was about to be thrown out the window before i tried that!
Cheers... Paul |
