Hiya. :D We've been thinking about it for a while and on sunday we bought the add on for my Tungsten T5. "Tomtom navigator".
According to PCWorld who we bought it off, this is on its way out, is this right, I know we had to go to another branch to buy it but for the price including a Sd card it was a bargain.
OH spent all pm downloading all maps including western europe. Navigated up to my sisters that evening and she only lives 5mins away. everybody had a laugh. but we love it already.

Any problems Question

Hiya
Just meaning is there any problems with the tomtom we should be aware of, as this is all new to us.
Do people still use the "paper" map or is everybody totally tomtom.
Thanks

I have been using TomTom for about 3 years and hardly ever look at a paper map now, either here or in Europe. Sure there are some mapping errors...you must always look at the road signs and not make an illegal turn in a city centre just because TomTom tells you to - just keep straight on and let it recalculate!
It's worth while looking at the route it chooses to make sure you are happy with it - there are some well publicised instances of TomTom taking you over some pretty hairy roads. But overall it's a wonderful tool

To be frank...keep your common sense in mind...nobody ever said that SatNav was 100%, and reading some of the idiotic comments from people in the press etc. etc. proves my point.
I personally keep a map in the car...just as an overview...for example, just got back today from Cornwall and it was good just to see whether or not we wanted to go via any particular stops on the way home....my wife decided that she would like to take a look at Wilton House, Salisbury...certainly not on TT's quickest route home.
I'm on my 6th year now, when it was VERY expensive to buy, and things are only getting better, but of course, our expectations are always higher as well. I would suggest that most of the idiots caught up in the press would have the same problems trying to read a map, let alone read the SatNav instruction manual.
