Garmin nüvi Models (300, 350, 310 & 36) What the differe

Can anyone confirm what the main differences are with the nüvi range, as far as I can see:

300 & 310 are single country units ie UK map data only.

350 & 360 Include European maps.

300, & 350 do not include Bluetooth support.

Is there anything else thats worth knowing, I'm not interested in the Bluetooth but require European maps. If I purchase either the 300 or 310 can I add European maps later.

Garmin Nuvi 310 comes with maps of Ireland as well. It seems to be Navteq map data. Seacon can you please update how you find the mapping data of Southern Ireland - I notice you being from NI. Smile

Thanks for the update, I found a 300 in Comet today initial thoughts was that it is very nice, screen very clear, lovely size, the only thing I could find was any way of planning a route.

Is it possible to plan a route from point A to point B, even if you do not have a GPS signal. If so could you provide a mickey mouse guide so that I can try it in store.

Yes you can plan a route without a gps signal. You cannot save any routes and recall them later (with or without a signal).

From the main menu (press menu on the map screen):
Choose "where to?"

If you wish to start a route from a place that is not where the nuvi currently is:
Press the down arrow twice and select "browse map"
Scroll the map to the new location and press set loc.
Press back.

Select required poi category or choose browse map (press down arrow twice)
Choose destination and press go.

If you use the nuvi with the antenna closed you get the option to simulate the route after it is calculated.

One thing the Nuvi range lack is the traffic module, its an extra(£100+ ish).
On the new C510d(deluxe) model its standard, could come in very handy!! the only problem is that i don't think its out yet but the C510 is, so hopefully won't be long.

:D Thanks, I was very interested in the Nuvi 350, but as you say the Nuvi is £399 + £150 for the TMC total cost £550.

Compare this with the C510D which includes TMC & European maping for £340 ish it seems a good deal.

The only things I can see that you are getting for the extra £200 is:-

- Smaller sized unit
- Built in European mapping, the 510D you have to load the maps as required.
- 700Mb of free memory.
- Basic travel guides, the full versions are additional cost options of £60

The C510D would be ideal if the travel software became available.

The 510D is only £299.99 at Halfords.

Given it includes the full European map set (worth about £150 as far as I can tell), and the traffic alert module, this seems like an uber bargain.[/url]

the 550 is out very soon, this has the european maps pre-loaded (more internal memory), and bluetooth for hands free. it also includes the tmc recevier. BUT, the pre-order prices i've seen are about £480.

I'm a new nuvi user too, like yourself just come over from TT.
I have found that in real life, the speed cameras only appear on my screen when I'm within 5mph of the camera speed, any less and they don't show at all. If you are over the speed limit you get a continuous bong until you slow down to the limit or below. Nice touch IMO cos you don't even have to look at the thing. I would prefer the icons to be on all the time.
Checkout cbrom's sticky near the top of the list. He appears to have overcome this problem by making the icons 'always on', although it has to be said I can't get that bit working on my 360.
Still waiting for a reply from cbrom hoping he can assist.
