Apologies in advance as this will have been covered elsewhere.
My girlfriend has a TomTom GO and her Dad has just bought a TomTom GO 700 (I would have told him to wait but did he ask me? tut :P )
I understand that TomTom will imminently be releasing software updates for the GO range, can anyone point me to details of this? And how does the 700 software get updated? Hopefully not by it being replaced with a refurbished model. |

Mark
the TT700 was being sold at very good prices because of the release of the new range - so was worth buying. I bought one for my wife's car.
Software is updated free of charge in exactly the same way as you update the software on your mobile or PDA. Just go to the TT website and download the latest. It comes in a self installing programme - just connect the 700 to a pc and let it install. I have installed the latest version, which is 5.44, build 5647. Of course it will never be the same software as is in the new range, with its better control of voices and sounds, but hey we managed without that up to now .....
In the packaging of my wife's TT was a card with an offer of a free download of the latest map (Western Europe), using a code number. This offer is valid until September 2006. Make sure her Dad has not thrown it away with the packaging and you can get the latest maps as well. _________________ Peter

I was thinking more along the lines of the v6 update, anyone know when it's currently scheduled to be released? |

The V6 upgrade is what is effectively in the 510 - 710 - 910 range. Don't think they will uprade the 700 to that - will limit the sales from the "only the very latest will do" people _________________ Peter

The upgrade will be available to the 700, one etc as the software is the same for every platform. But that doesn't mean the older modles can use every feature. Some of the features will either be greyed out or not shown in older models. _________________ Tom Tom GO 720 |
