Hi,
I subscribe to the pocketgps camera database and have been using it with UK maps successfully for some time. I recently purchased the French map add-on and using PoiEdit, dropped 'pocketgps_continental.ov2' into the 'France_Plus-Map' subdirectory. Using Explorer, I have confirmed that it is the latest version; 3/05/2006. I then went to 'Enable/Disable POI' (having switched to the France_Plus map) and checked the 'pocketgps continental' box. Having done this, I chose 'Warn when near POI' and set the warning distance and sound. I then checked that the pocketgps continental item in the ‘POI category’ table had a 'loudspeaker' indicated against the entry.
My problem is that the Viamichelin site notes three cameras between Nice Airport and Cannes. The pocketgps database does not show a single one. Is the pocketgps database defunct? I also note from a friends unit that TomTom's own warning database has many Cameras in France. Should I subscribe to TomTom instead of pocketgps?

Sorry Countryman, only just spotted this.
Alas, our database is the most trusted source for UK warnings only. The continentals are currently just an add-on and certainly not as comprehensive as the UK database. That said, we are striving to improve the non UK data and can envisage one day covering several countries with a professional product. _________________ Robert Brady |

No problem Rob.
Thanks for the explanation, I thought that it might be a case of lack of updates. After I posted I found 'Bo Peep's' contribution and downloaded the camera database from GPSPassion. It works a treat and has restored the missing cameras!
However, it might be worth making the non-compliancy with POEdit more obvious. After subscribing I continued to use POEdit and continued to download new databases. I then read about the issues with it and downloaded the 'proper' database. The POEdit system is still being updated, but with what?
