TravRoute recently brought out their new Bluetooth GPS Receiver, and we have a unit here for review. Although the CoPilot Bluetooth GPS Receiver looks familiarly like an Emtac/Socket BT GPS, I have been assured by ALK that it is not, and that it does have a different FCC ID showing it as a different product.

Hi Dave,
I have to state here that ALK's assurance is probably not true.
I personally have a socket BTGPS, and I have already checked the back of it.
The Socket BTGPS's label is almost the same with the CoPilot BT GPS Receiver, including the CE mark (CE0560!) and FCC ID (NY8D1598).
The only difference of them lies in the brand mark they use: socket or CoPilot.
IF EMTAC chooses to OEM ther BTGPS to socket or ALK, it's ok for their bussiness' sake. But from consumer's viewpoint, it is neither good nor suitable for ALK to claim such a fairy tale.
Please do let me know if i was wrong, thx!
ALK's other GPS Receivers do include the Emtac Sleeve
Please read into this as you will, we put this in the review because ALK became a little upset in us repeatedly discussing this as the Emtac receiver and did tell us that the FCC ID is diferent.
The pre-production CoPilot BT GPS that we tested did perform not quite as well as a Socket BT GPS I had in testing alongside it, so there maybe differences in the firmware/software, design, sensitivity or antenna.
