I've not tried the 2.82, but I've found 2.7 with an active repeater due to the thermal windscreen (I had the problem with GPS on the Snooper unit, so I got the Snooper powered GPS arial.) 2.7 outclasses Navtec fitted in my wife's car, since it had the whole postcode thing and has the POIs (hotels, food, etc.) _________________ Garmin StreetPilot i3

right after a few days of letting it run with version 3.0 found the map tracking is a joke not updating in map mode for over 3 miles, so ran the web update again and d/l the new updating audio stuff, it updated once then I ran the update again and it found even more audio updates, they all installed now and the audio version gone from 2.0 to 2.10, we see how it goes for a few days if still having issues with tracking and stuff i`ll be reverting back to 2.70.
let you know how it goes. _________________ tom tom start 25

Odd, i reinstalled 3.00 using web update, and just run it now, but i only have audio version 2.0. Does anyone else have 2.1 or higher? |

right after a days travel here there and nowhere, it`s now working without the tracking hangs or any other issues, all i did was install v3.0 with web updater then checked for updates again, it said allrady updated but there may be others so let it carry on got the new audio stuff it installed did a hard reset and ran the web updater again, this time after the first check given option again to check for others and it gave me 2 more updates.
so now it reports version 3.0 and audio v2.10 before it was 2.0 and the unit now works sweet.. _________________ tom tom start 25

Weird, maybe i should hard reset and reinstall 3.0 again. Does it show correct distances to junctions btw?
I have also noticed that with 3.0 the map refresh is fine when navigating, but poor in view map mode. |

With unit software V3.00 I have now audio version 2.20. The WebUpdater does not offer any additional update. Strange: With unit version 2.90 I had already audio version 2.30 installed. I think there is still a bug in the audio installation routine.
I use German messages and I am quite happy that a grammar error is now fixed.
I am living in France and with the french map I have never experienced any locks. I agree that the map update of the StreetPilot is very slowly after turns but I have always find the right way. Only in the narrow streets of the old center I loose sometimes satellite recption.

Hi all,
I was going to ask basically the same question, I have just upgraded to ver 3.0 and having read on here about the audio files I checked that aswell and now have ver 2.0. To be honest I dont know what I had before. The updater checked for any further updates but only the language ones showed. How do I update the audio files please? Obviously in the way I have become acustomed ie : simple
Thanks in advance....Dil _________________ ***************************************

the distance shown are better than before it no longer says i am 50 feet from a junction when sat on it.
as for the audio version 2.10 that came up after installing the other languages first bit of a pain having to update languages we dont use to get to the new audio updates.
In map mode we had the first few miles of it lagging from a cold start after the update, me thinks it was sorting its data out, IE, street names as I always use it with max detail and not had any screen lag since then. _________________ tom tom start 25

i am sat quietly in the back ground waiting for positive feedback from 3.0 before i upgrade.
what i have noted is the number of people telling us about audio version changes.
this concerns me as it was also an issue raised with 2.9, the majority seeming to go backward in versions. i know mine went back to 2.0 and then crashed when further audio updates were found.
with this in mind there could still be an issue with the firmware.
would like to hear from anyone who has changed to 3.0 and not done the whole audio download thing. is it running properly obviously this would be compared with someone who has. |

After reading about the different audio versions in this thread I tried the web updater and sure enough there were 4 voice updates. After installing these The audio version was 2.2. I checked for more updates and it looked like all voices were available. It took ages to update all the voices and the result was audio version 2.00 again. If I do a check for further updates now non are available. So how do I get back (forward) to 2.2 again. Should I revert to an earlier firmware and then reinstall 3.0 and update from there. I assume I'm not the only one to have this problem. |

Im using V.3.0 Egnos enabled with external antenna at the moment and it seems to be performing okay so far.
My Audio is at v2.3 just for the record I did a manual update from firmware V.2.7 to V3.0 so not sure if the Audio file were updated at the same time..... very strange that we all seem to have different audio versions.... Garmin really need to straigten this out quickly. |

I used webupdater and installed V3 but am still on V2 voice as i didn't install the extra voices. I also find the map doesn't flow as it should, takes a few hundred yards or more before updating the position, was definately better with 2.7. I run it with no antenna and the power lead. |
