Firstly as a new member on the site, hello to you all :D
The question is, I have a hp1910 pda and a garmin emap gps, I would like to be able to combine the two and try to use them more like a satnav system, so what are you views on this (has anyone done it)?, is it possible?, and how good would it be?.
Sorry for all the questions on my first post, but Im sure you understand!!! |

I'm afraid it's mostly bad news The 1910's sync port does not have a serial facility and hence can't be used to connect devices such as handheld GPS. One enterprising user has developed a project that connects an external GPS via a home made Serial-Infra-red interface, see http://home.tiscali.nl/~t_aalberts/ but it's a far from ideal solution. _________________ Darren Griffin |

No it won't work, it would be OK with the 1940 but not the 1910, sorry _________________ Darren Griffin |

Thanx for the advice, it has just saved me a few quid on buying a useless cable, but now it looks like its going to cost me buying either a new pda or getting my old laptop fixed!!!. |

It's a shame, quite why HP thought it a good idea to cripple the h1910 in this way is anyone's guess
It's turned out to be something of a white, it can't be upgraded to PPC2003 and was replaced by the h1940 very quickly. At least it gives you an excuse to sell it on and upgrade _________________ Darren Griffin |
