Pros

er......has a bigger number Confused

Cons..

Map update is now a big steaming pile of poo both in normal and Egnos!!

If you cant follow the route from the initial start point eg you're pointing the opposite direction from the calculated route and cant tun around the unit takes ages before it recalculates. This only seems to be from the set off point and is okay once you're on the route (this fault was also in 2.9 and 2.82)

The map doesn't autozoom properly any more until you get to another point. I've noticed it stays zoomed in but won't zoom out (intermittent but wasn't there in previous revisions.)

Gripe.....

Just because it's a European unit doesn't mean I should have to scroll through umpteen different countries and their spellings to get to Scotland...even worse for our Welsh mates !!
(Please Garmin get this sorted)

I think I've experienced this, too.

It almost seems as if since some of the latter firmware versions, that it's rather sluggish at the initial part of it's usage - ie after it's acquired, and calculating / ed the route.

Haven't really noticed that much, because only occasionally glance at the screen - have seen a couple of tardy updates to the screen, though, with 3.0 similar to 2.90 in that respect. Not had any white screens like with 2.90, though.

Have you complained about this to them, though, or are you expecting they're reading this thread? ;-)

Oh yes. Forgot about the auto zoom going wrong. Couple of times it's zoomed in at totally in-appropriate times and then zoomed out for no reason and stays zoomed out.

Thats exactly what I found with 2.9 but strangely 3.0 seems better and similar to 2.7. It does seem to get lost more during simulations though, the first time I tried one it left a roundabout at the same wrong exit at least twice. I'm sure it would have driven in circles forever if I hadn't intervened. I can't believe the earlier turn prompts fool it into taking the exit before it should in the same way some drivers have been fooled. Or could they?

Been for a drive of only about 10 miles and I have to say that V3.0 is totally and utterly Censored .

If you've any sense don't install it.

In the space of 10 miles....

1. it locked up no fewer than 4 times

2. map froze 6 times before unfreezing about 500-600 yards further down the road.

3. lags badly when you turn before the map catches up.

4. zooms in at turns then wont zoom out until another turn or unless manually zoomed out.

I got home and "upgraded" to v2.7 which didn't have any of the Censored above and working fine.

Garmin sack you software engineer ASAP.

I did miss one thing, the distances are to just wrong. And since upgrading it to 3.0 it now takes much longer to get a fix. The zoom is a little odd, but not much odder than 2.90. ah well

Surely they must run some fundamental tests before releasing new firmware? I'm sticking with 2.7 until things get more positive.

My I3 came with vers 2.5.I upgraded to vers 2.82 without trying vers 2.7.
2.82 beta I did not have any real complaints. However vers 2.9 was a pain in the backside.Slow to lock, white screen.lock up etc.
Ok been running vers 3.00 a few days & so far a great improvement over 2.9 .A couple of questions a friend pointed out that if you drive past your intended location END the I3 stops directing you (it does not tell you to turn around or try to route you back.)Did this happen with prev versions of software? Did vers 2.7 allow full post code search?
It seems that as more language vers are added for Europe ,the search screen becomes more cluttered ie 3 vers of Belgium etc.
Garmin when you sorted the final vers of i3 firmware. Please can we have an English language front screen only.
Do they give all the language vers that make up the population of the USA? I THINK NOT.

2.7 does the same thing when you pass the end point. Will also do full postcode search but you have to include the space (I think in 2.9 and 3.0 the space is optional).

Understand from Garmin that firmware 3.0 does not include fixes for the 2.90 bugs, which may explain why so many of us are still encountering similar problems with the two releases and why the update log only shows a language bug fix.

Interesting... If that is indeed the case then all we can hope for now is that version 3.1 is not too far away from being released!

Stupidly updated to 3.0 without waiting for you guys to check it out first. Laughing

Went back to 2.7, mainly because of the reports here, but I'm sure it now takes much longer to 'realise' that I've not followed its directions. It now continues to give spoken directions for the original route, and takes around 30 seconds before it says 'Recalculating'. It used to do this more or less immediately I left the route, in fact it was one of the things that impressed me about the i3.

Is it possible that some of 3.0's 'features' could still be there? I'll try a reset before I go out again and see if there's any improvement.

Does anyone know if there is an issue with ver3.00 of the Garmin i3 software? My speed camera POIs worked fine until I updated my i3 to ver3.00. Now it doesn't show any Speed Cameras.
I've tried reloading the POI via the Garmin POI Loader twice in case the software update erases any POIs, but still no luck.

Anyone else had similar problems or are the cameras ok on your version 3.00?

Thats it - v3.00 has let me down for the last time!!!!

Problems:
1) Sometimes when calculating a route it stays on 0%, only way to recover is to remove batteries and restart.
2) Turn notifications are given way to early and is becoming a real problem when driving around town because:
3) Map updating seems to have slowed down completely making the use of the screen as a backup to the voice instructions next to useless.
4) Due to the above its inevitable that I will take a wrong turn, and when this happens I have to drive a considerable distance before the i3 picks up on the fact I have gone wrong and recalculates. Again when driving around towns this is a REAL issue.

I have tried loading on V3 a number of times but always the same result (V8 Maps BTW).

Overall not at all happy - It makes me feel that Garmin have not ested the release, if this was Beta I would be more understanding but it isnt.

Cheers,

Russky
