You are probably correct but I do recall that TT5 was marketed as having a common "engine" with the other TT5 products. Ergo, what affects one should affect the other. |

Partially true, but as they use a different OS, it is usually here that different problems arise.
The Maps, and the Mapping Engine, are common. _________________ Richard

It has been in all the papers saying they are in PC World. Not heard anything from Easy devices. Wonder when they will have them or should I go elsewhere! |

I had pre-ordered the 910 from Easy Devices and received an email from them yesterday informing me they now have them in and I should have mine either Tues or Wed this coming week. Getting all excited now as I'm completely new to SatNavs |

I know its been discussed a bit, but this will be my first purchase into the world of sat nav, so i am keen to get it right. I have pre ordered the 910 from easy devices, but am not sure if this is the correct decision. I will not be going to the US or Canada for about 2 years. I have visited the US many times including last year. My nexts trips will be in Europe, mostly Italy. Next year I will be in Australia for about 4 weeks, but it appears Tom Tom does not do maps of Australia. The only benefit I can see between the 910 over the 710 is the Maps of US and Canada and text to speech. My questions are:
1. Is text to speech a major step forward and worth having?
2. Have there been any reliability issues with having a hard disc instead of SD cards?
3. Are there any plans for Sat nav maps of Australia?
Any help would be of assistance.
Thanks |

TomTom already has maps of Australia, but you need to purchase from Australia stockist or find another source. |

I am also buying sat nav for the first time and I am wondering if anyone can tell me what they think is best.
I am looking at the new TomTom's or the new Nuvi's. Does anyyone have any experience of either or both?

The size of the Nuvis is certainly attractive compared to the TomTom, although I imagine that the voice quality would be lower as the speaker must be smaller. They also get very good reviews. Garmin state shipping in June (Nuvi 310) and July (Nuvi 360) so it depends partly on whether you can wait.
One of the things that put me off the Nuvi is the lack of Mac support, although this is planned by the end of 2006. |

I just received a mail confirming my order has been dispatched, unfortunately though neither did I receive or reply to any confirmation mail & purchased a Nuvi 300 about a month ago because no one could tell me what exactly was happening with the Tom-Toms |
