|
|
ok my tomtom is knackered as you all know ive tried everything and theyve now asked for me to return it,
i read through the details and small print to find that they may not send it back, and if they do it will uninsurred (uncared for) surface mail, if its lost ist not there responsibilty,
"ohh im sorry for spending £235 on one of you faulty products but if its lost its my fault?"
can anyone shed any light if the S*** hits the fan? |

Sounds like you have summed it up nicely I'm afraid...
No personal experience, but has anyone considered contacting
someone like Watchdog?
This kind of issue seems insane. Maybe over in Holland they are selling
for £29.99 a pop. But anything that costs over £200 should have
brilliant Customer Services!

When I returned my TomTom Go 300 under warranty, TomTom arranged for DHL to pick it up and returned its replacement (a brand new unit) the same way. I had to log onto to their Website and generate a RMA.
Are you sure you aren't reading the terms for returning it out of warranty or similar? _________________ J. |

heres where it says it section 2
UPS Electronic Return Label: View/Print Label
INCLUDE COPY OF PROOF OF PURCHASE Please also ensure that you have included a copy of your proof of purchase (or invoice) in the package. Without a copy of your proof of purchase you will be charged for repair costs. MENTION UPS RETURN SERVICE Please mention upon contacting ups that it is UPS return-service and that you received a return label that you printed out.
ONLY LISTED ITEMS Please do not include any item(s) in the box other than those listed on the return label. Returning items that are not explicitly mentioned to be sent in on the return label (such as the original TomTom-box, SD, productcode card, etc.) will result in those items not being returned. If you do send us other items, we do not accept any liability for loss or damage. We are under no obligation to return the item and that if it is returned, such return shall be done by regular mail, shall be uninsured and shall be for the sole risk and account of the owner of the item. We may charge handling costs which are payable before its return. Ensure that there are no other tracking labels attached to your package.
Fold the printed label at the dotted line. Place the label in a UPS Shipping Pouch. If you do not have a pouch, affix the folded label using clear plastic shipping tape over the entire label. Take care not to cover any seams or closures.
Collection and Drop-off
Take this package to a UPS location or to arrange for a collection, call UPS at 08457-877877. Drop Off Locator
Daily Collection customers: Have your shipment(s) ready for the driver as usual.
To acknowledge your acceptance of the original language of the agreement with UPS as stated on the confirm payment page, and to authorise UPS to act as forwarding agent for export control and custom purposes, sign and date here: |

you should read it, including the preceding line. It is about any non-listed item that you may include in the shipment:
If you do send us other items, we do not accept any liability for loss or damage. We are under no obligation to return the item and that if it is returned, such return shall be done by regular mail, shall be uninsured and shall be for the sole risk and account of the owner of the item. We may charge handling costs which are payable before its return.
Listed items are insured. _________________ GO1005

They don't want you to send back the original packaging, but I'd put it in a box if I were you.
Mine has been back via DHL too, and they use DHL to return it as well. All very satisfactory. They send an email with details of how to track the package on its way to you. |
