It's all sorted boys and girl's ttm5 now work's on N70 fully updated no more bug's clear runnig . HOW THAT THEN ? I had my phone flashed to v5. . Then updated ttm myself as it's not the mccoy BINGO it works like a dream no more bug's .Useing a BT-Q880 gps nice one does the job.
Great news. I think that v5 has sorted mine out as well. So far only a couple of drop outs at the same spot on the M6, but it re-connects no problem, where this used to require a reboot!
Can you post your exact TT settings. Mine are
TT v5.202
GPS Driver v1.20
Great Britain Plus v632
Wish I'd read all this first!!
Had the N70 for about a week and yep it's dropping out every 20mins, then it's off and on with the phone to reboot it.
Been to the main Nokia service centre in Huntingdon, he won't flash it up to the latest firmware!!!!!
As it's on the latest T-mobile firmware already, upgrading will wipe out all of the T-mobile screens and void the warranty.
Also once upgraded if there is a fault with the new firmware, game over you can't install an older / lower firmware version back on as it will kill the phone.
Apparently you have network firmware and generic firmware.
They are all much of the same but the network firmware has been played with so you get the networks hot keys and advertising screens.
Generic is for sim free phones.
At present T-Mobile and Vodafone(I think) are using V2.0537.1.7 (which happens to be mine!)
Orange and O2 are on V3.0546.2.3
Vodafone are having a nightmare acording to the engineer there video stream system is completley different and it's not compatible.
The lastest generic firmware is V5.0609.2.0.1
Have contacted T-mobile to see If or when they will be using the lastest firmware.
I may possibly need to get a service centre to install at least V3 if I'm to get any use from this phone!!
TTm5 app v5.2
Gps v1.2
map GB v562
N70 v5.0609.2.0.1
01/03/06
Rm-84
Found a shop with this nokia flash form nokia . No bullshit ''i have to see your phone'' then boots in v3. pay now. stright to the point . Got it mate
took him 3 boots but sorted nice one . Just need the unlock codes to hit the street then Bye Bye 3uk and all your customer bullshit service. Any one need TTm fully moty then leave a note It's a ''Bullseye'' to buy or we can find a swap.
T-Mobile are rubbish!!
They won't do anything about the Firmware update. I need a service centre that will update my N70 to at least V3.0546.2.3
Regardless if it's generic and going to void the warranty, I just need this to work. T-mobile don't quite understand this rather important fact and just say it's the software and they don't have problems so they don't know if they are even going to use the lastest firmware updates!!
I have managed to use the TTM5 with my N70(Firmware V2.0537.1.7)
This was also connected to the bluetooth hands free kit.
It only lasts for about 20mins before locking up. Have removed all of the speed camera files, to try this as well. I also tried it without connecting to the handsfree kit still the same.
Tried all the different steps, the best was to switch on GPS receiver and let it get a fix then run TT on the phone all gets connected and runs well for 20mins anyway. Not good, as a service engineer I cover all of the uk, be alright if I fitted to a fighter jet may get to most places in 20mins
If anybody knows where I can get this done I'd like to know!
As a side note have contacted Navicore and they have said that there new 2006 version will work on the N70 regardless of which firmware version it has running...mmm maybe it's time to look elswhere?

I would take that staement with a large pinch of salt. Route 66 has the same problems with the N70 that TT does. It is the N70 firmware that is faulty. _________________ Kam
I took it to the main centre in Huntingdon and he wouldn't do it.
He said I already had the latest T-mobile firmware installed!!
I explained the situation he just said he would book it in and they would test it and check it out and he would get back to me in about.........10DAYS!!!
I just asked him to put on the latest Generic version but he wouldn't do it.
He told me I would have to wait until T-mobile started to use the latest firmware. So I contacted T-mobile and the woman said " We don't have a problem so we are not using the new firmware and we may not use it, It must be your software at fault"
Great, I explained to her the situation and she said
"you've had the phone less than 7 days so return it and cancel the contract"
It will be going back some time next week, the E-mail has been sent and they can please themselves.
Got to say Nokia need a good slap for this, shocking way to treat customers!
THe phone has to be flashv5. it's not the software but you should update that as well just in case . All network '' 3g, t-mobile,o2, ect'' are ass hole's
with one bull to the next. I got my phone off con-bay ie Ebay it's locked on 3, talking to them to place ownship off phone on my name does not work even if the fist ower tell them their sold it to me . So if you sell a phone make sure it's not to some nutter who out to kill some poor sod as if he/she drop's the phone you will need explain why your phone is at the seen. That may take a few hours for pig's to sort it all out if not days. In the mean time your fucked. All because your network , NIce One.

Hi, this is my first post.
I am due to upgrade my handset next month (I am with the dreaded T-Mobile) and obviously want to go with an N70 for sat nav. I take from previous comments in this thread that T-Mobile do not provide a working version of the firmware required for stable connection, to either Route 66 or Tom Tom, which I could probably get for free.
I'll also be needing a bigger SD card and GPS unit.
Given what we now know, what would you get if you were me? I am not ruling out switching mobile providers...
Tried connecting the BT-77 to laptop via dongle. It connected, but only for 10 seconds. So it seems it was faulty anyway. Sent it back, but instead of getting a replacement, I just got the 32 channel BTGPS74R aka Holox BT-321.
Now...TTM5 runs perfect. Initially, the GPS didn't lock on. But now it does so quite fast, and on the dash, has 5 or more nearly full signal bars. Even with camera database (single filed - haven't bothered with multi speed zoned etc) it's fine...no dropouts or anything...touchwood. Also, I'm on V5 firmware.

Hey People,
Just to let y'all know, I solved all my problems.
Jon
Hi jon29
I'm glad to hear you have finally sorted it. The issue is there are so many possibilities as to what the problem could be, it can be very difficult to pin it down at first. I also seem to be sorted out since upgrading to v5 firmware. Mine now works perfectly and I have tried it out over several trips, both locally and distant.
I still feel that Nokia could have done more to help us all in the first place though. A good starting point would have been to admit to having issues with the N70, rather than pointing the finger at everything else but their product!
Still, hopefully the persistance of all the people throughout the long months spent helping each other on this forum have paid off and anyone taking up an N70 today, and running TT Mobile should have greater success. _________________ All this Tunnel at the end of the light........

Hi,
Not been a subscriber long myself!
I've used both Route66 mobile7 and TTM5 both with a Holox 321 GPS receiver on the Nokia N70
Forget it. It doesn't work!!
Got my N70 on the 15.04.06 and have been hitting my head against a wall with Nokia and T-mobile.
In the end kept the N70 and sent it down to Motaphone yesterday 25.04.06
They called me today all done and working with the latest generic firmware V5! Yippeee.
Told T-Mobile they just said it will void your warranty so off went another E-mail with all the faults and whats corrected with version 5 firmware. and also to ask how it can be void using Nokia firmware carried out by Nokia service centre?
will wait for response, more important for the phone to work with no warranty than not to work with one!
They sent me a reply saying that Nokia had confirmed a fault with the Bluetooth connection which is corrected in Firmware version3.
Please contact you Telephone provider to have the phone flashed with at least Version 3 firmware.
How I laughed at that!!
Jimster,
Keep the N70 and have it flashed with the latest generic firmware. I managed to get everything to work for about 20mins and when it did work it was excellent.
It was nice to connect to the bluetooth handsfree car kit and the GPS receiver at the same time. Verystrange having a starnge woman telling me where to go through the car speakers!!
I should state that I only had it working for 20mins with firmware 2.5 T-mobile one.
Jimster, I could probably get Route 66 and TomTom free as well, but I only borrowed them and I'm looking at buying Navicore.
Why you may ask if I can get them free?
When you read some of the reports on here and see what goes into making this software, if we all end up getting free copies we wouldn't get any updates of software or maps again.
The makers just wouldn't stay in business as it would be too expensive to develop any updates or pay for the new maps.
Just spoke to my nearest authorised Nokia repair centre and they said they would flash my N70 (yet to upgrade to this handset) to the generic v5 firmware BUT they would have to charge (£25) as Nokia will not pay them to carry this work out.
When I asked why, the chap explained that Nokia do not consider their firmware to be faulty as it works perfectly well when used as a standard phone, and that it is only the running of third-party software (TomTom, Route66 etc.) that causes a problem.
In plain English, all the Nokia bits work, and if you have trouble with 3rd party software, tough.
Without having to trawl through 18 pages again, has anyone been able to get the generic v5 firmware for free? I only ask as me and the Mrs will be upgrading at the same time, so it would be 2 x this charge...
I probably will get a legit version of TT too, just for peace of mind.
